At the Wombat Proving Grounds

Here on the off-road test track, we put wombats through their paces: acceleration, cornering, braking, drift, rollover tests, and of course, binkies. It’s all to ensure that every wombat is Built Wombat Tough!

I’m continuing in my lobbying efforts to have this delightful creature renamed. I’ve just never been convinced that the name “Wombat” does it justice. We can keep the Wombat name and just assign it to some lizard or toad …. or even to an actual BAT ….. and then we are free to call these roly-poly darlings something more suiting like BUMPKINs or FLURRYCUTIEs or something. I’m open to suggestions.

Birdcage, I respectfully disagree. I love the name Wombat. It’s part of their charm for me. And I like saying “walloping wombats.” Walloping bumpkins just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

However, “walloping bumpkins” does sound like a nice Victorian-era expletive…

Walloping Bumpkins is now my go-to phrase!!!!

Love the roly-poly wackiness. Is this normal
wombat behavior or is it a mating dance (ha!)?
I don’t see the other cutie doing this. BTW, the
name “wombat” is goofy enough for me.

Rolling, prancing wombat just skyrocketed to the top of my Christmas list. 🙂

I had no idea they’re so wacky! The roll-over had me chocking back some mashed potatoes lest I spray my computer monitor at work. 🙂

Notice the classic execution of ‘Never too busy for an itch.’ at the end there.

Our *dog* acts like this. Maybe Sophie is part wombat? I really need to get that gene screening scheduled…

Are wombats related to buns?! He even did a “bunny roll” in addition to binkies! Never before seen this adorable behavior in wombats. BTW, I love saying “wombat” and I think the name fits them?
