I got some time with family, a luscious meal, a good book, some new pjs, the chance to see the new Star Wars …. Everything I wished for. ‘Twas lovely.
I got an iPad Air from my husband and I got to see my niece and nephew and grand nieces and nephews that I don’t get to see nearly enough during the year.
Besides a stuffed tummy, I got two nifty vintage movie posters (Days of Wine and Roses and All that Heaven Allows) and assorted other goodies.
Wishing all a happy and healthy new year! 🙂

I got 6 vintage brooches to add to my collection, a hand crocheted poncho, a ton of other great gifts, the trophy for winning the most prizes at the games, and a heck of a good time with my kids and their significant others.
I got an eerily warm day to take Ricky for long walks in Central Park, where we saw cherry trees in bloom on December 25. My family and I exchange donations to charity, so I got some of those (gave some, too, of course). I also got to have a delicious homemade dinner with friends who are very good cooks. And I got to have a respite from All Christmas All the Time here, courtesy of NTMTOM. Yay!
The day off from work and time with family and friends. We decided not to do gifts this year. Turns out it’s just as good.?
Our gift to ourselves (besides moving this fall to our forever house after moving 10 times in the past 19 years) is arriving this afternoon. But I don’t know how to post a photo here in the comments! Can someone give me a clue where to find the proper code so I can put one up? Because you all want to see her, I promise! 🙂
Laura: To add a picture to a comment, look for a button labeled “Choose File” below the area in which you type your comment. Click this button and select a photo from your computer. Your picture will appear below your comment.
Some important things to know:
You shouldn’t have to use any special code. At the bottom of the comment it says:
Add an image after your comment (JPEG only)
Click Browse… and navigate to the folder where your image is.
I don’t think you have to worry that much about the width/height. WordPress will downscale it, but the weight, in kilobytes – KB, should probably be not much more than 50 KB. If more than that you will probably get an error message like this:
“Request Entity Too Large”
Give it a try, or lot of tries, nothing dangerous will happen.
Happy Boxing Day, all! (Cats everywhere are going “What? A whole day devoted to boxes? Best thing EVAR!” 😀 )
The very best thing I got yesterday was NTMTOM’s making this site a gingerbread-and-tinsel-free zone, and the niceness and sense of community of the commenters here. Thank you – you made my Christmas so very much better than I expected it to be!
Also…it was about 60 degrees out (In Massachusetts. In December.) so I got to go out and take some pix that I’ve been meaning to do for months. And here’s a reason I love my town – I pulled over and put my blinkers on to get some shots in the woods, and a fellow driving by stopped just to see if I was Ok. Nice people!
It was 58 in northern Indiana! We had to open windows!! Totally bizarre weather, but at least good for travelers.
I had a joyful day, especially watching my 4.5 y.o. niece open her gifts from Santa (she’s the only “believer” left among the N&Ns). Plus, lots of laughter, few dysfunctions, and too much good food!?
I got a Raspberry Pi, which is a computer on a board the dimensions of a credit card. I’m working with it now; my goal is to hook it up to my TV and use it as a movie player.
I’ve seen that in the store and I didn’t know what the heck it was!
Merry Christmas all! Ntmtom, if you are successful kindly share?
I got a new stove hood, some cash, gift cards for Starbucks and Target, and some assorted small stuff.
One cat attempted entry into a box too small for him, and the other cat stayed under the bed all morning. Probably afraid of all the stuff in the living room.
I got to give my husband a Lil Bub bobblehead figure. Press a button and it squonks! He gave me a new raincoat, since Rufus got hold of my old one when I had left some treats in my pocket. He’s a 9 pound chihuahua, and managed to get the coat off the hook it was hanging from, and chew all the way through the pocket. Very ambitious.
Here’s our gift to ourselves. Her name is Melody. She’s 2 years old, from a local greyhound rescue. She is an absolute sweetheart! This isn’t the best picture — she’s a VERY dark, rich black, with the softest, most glossy coat I have ever seen on a pup. We love her to death already!
She is beautiful – congratulations!
What a gorgeous pup!!! Best Christmas present ever for both you and your lovely greyhound. Rescues always pay you back 100x over. Congrats!
Melody is a beautiful furbaby! I love her smile. Congratulations to her for picking such wonderful humans. 🙂 Wishing you all many years of love, belly rubs, and cuddles.
Congratulations on the new family member, Laura! Melody has the best Christmas present, though–a Forever Home!?
Aww look at the beautiful Greyhound. I love her name. Many blessings. More pictures as you get to know her better, please.
I got an old school gaming system, some books, a DVD, a delicious meal, time with my family, and peace and quiet! (after the family had gone)
Shout out to NTMTOM for his non-Christmas Christmas on this site, nice break from all the tinsel, songs and over the top presents. We had a quiet Christmas on the West Coast. Got hubby a throw back gaming system (Atari!) and some travel helpers as he’s on an international trip for work in about 2 weeks. I got a new clock radio that also plays my iPod and a knife set. Went to the casino for their special buffet dinner and left more stuffed than the turkey, lol. Oh and yes, the weather is crazy. It’s been dropping to the mid-30’s here overnight which is ridiculous. I had to ask who the f*** moved my state north???
Merry Christmas, and a Safe and Happy New Year to everyone.
