A much-deserved break, NTMTOM! Hope you have a great time. (I’m watching the ‘Twilight Zone’ marathon on Syfy – my New Year tradition).

Hope that 2016 is prosperous and also artistically rewarding for you – Happy New Year!

My New Year’s tradition, performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, the Ode to Joy, took on added meaning with my brother’s successful surgery. He received a double lung transplant in surgery that began at 11:13 pm New Year’s Eve and was finished by 5:44 am on New Year’s Day. The lungs were working before he left the OR. He’s defying the statistics by being awake (within hours of the end of surgery), lucid, breathing on his own, trialing off the vent for SEVEN hours on Sunday, and becoming the pest wee brudder that he has always been.
Huge thanks to NTMTOM for putting a smile on my face repeatedly while we rode the roller coaster of waiting for a transplant (including the very sobering knowledge that someone had to lose their life to allow my brudder to continue his), and to all the gentle readers of this site who have made the wait tenable. All y’all are awesome.
Happy New Year to Mike and all his acolytes in NTMTOM-ville!
