Caturday Open Thread: Have a Catpuccino

The holidays are over, we’ve all lived to see another year, and this is the last weekend before some of us resume our normal lives. So have a seat, enjoy a nice cappuccino, and talk about whatever you wanna.

I would have to take a picture before I could destroy the artwork!
Totally avoiding what I am supposed to be doing–plans for school, grading, individual intervention plans–by hanging out on the internet. I tip-toe along the ragged edge of disaster!?

Me too! I’m supposed to being paying bills, getting organized, and doing laundry but …. the internet and goofing off is much more fun.

I’m being good (or at least trying!) by giving myself a 1/2 hour deadline to play on the internet before getting down to work. Good luck getting motivated!

Lol! Me too too! Dishes then bills. I’m giving myself to the end of my second cup of coffee.

Playing here and watching an episode of The Curse Of Oak Island.

Much more fun than paying bills.
I did go outside with the dog and cleaned the cat box. Lol.

Diligently avoiding a second trip to FB until bedtime. FB is a time sucking portal for sure.

Incremental progress: dishes done, checkbook balanced.

          Bills later. Sigh.

    Don’t you mean…(drum roll, please)… a catPURRccino?

There! My first internet pun! Unless you count the really naughty one I used to insult someone who was being rude on another website.

      Yay! Good one.

Very good! And I kinda want to hear about the naughty one. 😀

We took care of the always-dreaded annual visit to the V-E-T this morning for our kitty, Princess Lahara, AKA Fuzzy Butt. She’s really skittish around other people (and animals) so it’s always traumatic for her, but she did great today, especially considering it’s a new doc for her. She was actually purring for a while (contented purring, not stress purring), when she wasn’t being poked and prodded.

Other than the constant, loud serenade the entire 30 minute trip there (and back), I’d consider it a great success. 🙂

I had to pick up our cat years ago after he had treatment for an abscess on his face (the result of an encounter with a neighborhood cat; he was a stray who adopted us so he was never fully an indoor cat, unfortunately) and he yowled at the top of his lungs the whole 20 minute drive home. When we got there I put his box down in the living room and opened it up, and he staggered out like a furry little drunk. I felt a little bad for laughing. (Just a little. 😛 )

Yep, Lahara was a stray too, and the first time we drove her to the vet she was howling so loud she was starting to sound more like a dog than a cat. We were laughing hysterically by the time we got there. Poor little thing.

She’s actually named after the lahar sirens that warn of an eruption or catastrophic mudflow (“lahar”) from Mt Rainier here in Washington…when she meows she sounds a little like the sirens. Plus we thought “Lahara” was kind of a cool name. 😀

This reminds me of my first trip on the bus to the vet with my cat many years ago. There was silence until, apparently, the gates of hell opened inside the carrier. At least, I’m sure that’s what the other bus passengers thought…

I was going to do the ironing but binge watched most of the new season of The MInd Project instead. 😀

I have spent the last week doing absolutely NOTHING for the first time in probably 10 months. I’ve eaten, slept, read, and knitted, and otherwise done zero that could be considered constructive. But after 10 months of sorting, cleaning, packing, moving, and then unpacking in our new house, all while maintaining a really heavy workload (the curse of being self-employed — if you don’t work you don’t get paid, so I worked), I really think I earned a week off.

I did, however, discover earlier that our silly new greyhound Melody apparently loves my knitting so much that when I stepped away from my favorite knitting chair and left the sock I was working on on the table beside it, she helped herself to the sock and dragged it a good 20 yards across the house where she could, I guess, chew it up in peace. Fortunately my husband saw her and rescued the sock before it was history. And I then had the delights of untangling that 20 yards of yarn. Sigh. I can see that Melody is going to Bear Watching!

How is Melody doing otherwise? Did she snuggle during your week off?
