It’s Otter Madness!

It has come to my attention that readers of this blog would like to see more otters on this site. Well, brace yourselves for an otter onslaught of photos and videos, starting with Maureen’s submission of this Zooborns report on a newborn otter pup at the Monterey Bay Aquarium:

And video!

But there’s more! Sender-inner Alison sent me photos she took at the Monterey Bay Aquarium last December and I forgot about them (sorry!) until just now!

Hooray for otter postings. And while we are on the subject of things we’d like to see…a meerkat would be welcome. Love meerkats!

And quokkas. Don’t forget quokkas. And the occasional capybara. A tiger or two would be nice. And baby lions – they are mighty cute! Ditto for heffalumps. And ponies. Not to mention dwarf goats and penguins and all members of the Paridae family… And who would say nay to owls and eaglets and ducks and Golden Retriever puppies? I certainly wouldn’t mind more hamsters, squirrels and chipmunks…

Oh, yes – definitely flying foxes/other bats, and cephalopods. Love them!

I vote for quokkas too! And don’t forget chinchillas–they are right there with otters for breaking the cute meter.

“Aboard the decommissioned U.S.S. Wheelbarrow “! How do you think of these things? You have to leave your brain to science.

And the hover on the first one – who else could make a rhyming lullaby with ‘abalone’?!

    Wintertime,
    And the floatin’ is easy
    Fish are jumpin’
    And the tide is high

    Oh, Your daddy’s got fish
And your mamma’s (not changing this line) good lookin’
    So hush little baby
    Don’t you cry

    One of these mornings
You’re going to the ease of swimming
    Then you’ll spread your fins
And you’ll take to the sea sky

    But until that morning
    There’s a’nothing can harm you
With your daddy and mammy floating by
