Back to the Woodland Chess Final

… and, as we enter the third hour of this gripping match, it looks like the Russian grandmaster, Boris Squirrelski, has outmaneuvered his challenger, Bobby Kingfisher. There was a delay earlier in the game when Kingfisher flipped the board after accusing his opponent of nibbling on the pieces.

    Next match, Moose and Squirrel.

LOL! That is the fanciest squirrel hairdo we have ever seen!

    • amyliz January 20, 2016 / 6:53 pm

Yeah, in fairness to Kingfisher, he was probably distracted by those ears, making hard to be on top of his game! 😀

    • Kay Fabe January 20, 2016 / 8:43 pm

      I think I’ve seen it before…

      • Kar January 20, 2016 / 9:45 pm

        Londo?

        • Kay Fabe January 21, 2016 / 12:47 am

He’s not a dude in a moustache and cape managing Cloud City.

          Double nerd references!

          • Faye January 21, 2016 / 3:30 am

            Ooo you’re good. ?

          • Kar January 21, 2016 / 9:12 am

            We are unabashedly nerds

I wonder how many here are old enough to understand where the names Boris Squirrelski and Bobby Kingfisher. Very clever NTMTOM. 😀

    • Faye January 20, 2016 / 6:50 pm

      Me!!

      • Calico Angel January 21, 2016 / 12:40 am

        Me too

    • Janice January 20, 2016 / 7:02 pm

And that begs the question —how old is NTMTOM anyway?

      • Faye January 20, 2016 / 7:07 pm

        Office poop?

He knows the seventies and eighties better than I. So I guess he’s born after 1955.

        • Faye January 20, 2016 / 7:09 pm

Omg!! OFFICE POOL!!! NOT POOP. POOL!!! Darn autocorrect.

          • amyliz January 20, 2016 / 8:26 pm

NTMTOM, your age is completely irrelevant! Your wit and humor are timeless!

          • Faye January 21, 2016 / 3:39 am

            Yay! I could tell.
1959 was a good year for future NTMTOMers.

On a totally unrelated tangent, do any of you remember the Sears catalogue?

Am I the only old fogey who thinks Amazon is today’s Sears catalogue?

          • Gigi_the cat lady January 21, 2016 / 10:47 am

Oh no Madame X I remember doing my Christmas list with the Sears catalog.

          • Kar January 21, 2016 / 12:52 pm

            Sears? Classy.

We had the JC Penny’s for the start of school and the PX catalogue for Christmas

I love Boris’ matching fur hat gloves and boots. And his snazzy fur coat.

  5. fkaWaldenPond January 20, 2016 / 7:19 pm

Seriously, I am really curious why someone ‘voted down’ to this. Was it a slip of the key punch or do you have a relative of Bobby Fischer voting?!

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike January 20, 2016 / 7:37 pm

I don’t know, but one of the benefits of the voting buttons is that they allow people to express their opinion anonymously, which is a good way to get honest feedback.

      • Liloaktree January 20, 2016 / 8:12 pm

Is this the first downvote in NTMTOM history??

        • Not That Mike The Other Mike January 20, 2016 / 8:24 pm

No, I’ve had others. They don’t bother me, in fact, I try to learn from all feedback, negative as well as positive.

          • Smartypants January 20, 2016 / 8:54 pm

The downvoter is Vladimir Putin – he saw “Russian Grandmaster” and thought it was going to be a picture of him.

      • Mr. Max January 21, 2016 / 1:04 am

Smartypants, if the squirrel or the bird were riding shirtless on horseback while wrestling a tiger and doing judo with a Kalashnikov in its hand (beak?), THEN we’d know Putin was involved.

  6. ^oo^ January 20, 2016 / 7:49 pm

Squirrelski opened with the Peanut Gambit. “Nuts to you!” shouted Kingfisher.

    • Kar January 20, 2016 / 9:43 pm

      *** golf clap ***

      • Kar January 20, 2016 / 9:44 pm

Oh good, my old icon of a mutated green virus. Not the blue one that confuses people.

  7. Luv Bunny January 20, 2016 / 8:08 pm

Maybe they ” voted down” because of photoshopping? Anyway, you have a birdbrain playing against a sqwerly nut, could be an interesting game.

  8. Luv Bunny January 20, 2016 / 8:17 pm

@NTMTOM, When I saw your welcome refugees from CO site, I saw that you had mentioned about using Amazon and to click on it. Does that mean if I order from them, thru this site, you get some money? If so, I’ll keep that in mind. I don’t know a lot about how these things work on the web.

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike January 20, 2016 / 8:23 pm

Right, when you click the Amazon link in my sidebar, I get a small payment for every item you order. (To be specific, every item you place in your cart within 24 hours of clicking the link.)

      • Beemoused January 21, 2016 / 7:11 am

This is an awesome way to support your worthy endeavors – I’m a chronic Amazon shopper so I’ve changed my quick-link to them to bring me to your page instead. You get shopper points and I get cute–that’s a win/win in my book!

  9. rvman January 22, 2016 / 11:47 pm

I know that bird. His name is Jay.

  10. Ed January 23, 2016 / 3:41 am

NTMTOM, so glad to find your site. I only discovered it reading the post-mortem comments on CO’s last post. If I had known about it before I would have been here a long time ago. Your slightly off-kilter sense of humor fits mine perfectly. Going to change my shopping to help you out with the Amazon thing. All the best.

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike January 23, 2016 / 8:25 am

Welcome, Ed. You haven’t missed much, since I’ve only had this site since last November. And thank you for using my Amazon link! 🙂
