Here in southeastern PA, we are battened
and hunkered, with books and wine at the
    ready. Time to cocoon!

Here in NC, I was supposed to get 12″. I got 3″ and it’s still sleeting. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as they say up your way!

Central Jersey, here. At my parents’ house, because if the power goes out, they have a fireplace. Also, I don’t have to clean off my car and move it on the snow-removal-people’s schedule like I do at my condo complex. And I can help them clear the driveway, ‘cuz I worry about them when it snows. So far, just some tiny white things in the air that I refuse to acknowledge because weather.com says it doesn’t start for another hour and a half. So there.

    Officially Hunkered

Car filled with gas. Ice melt stacked in house. Garbage taken out. Cat box cleaned. Bottled water. Radio. All the thingies are charging.

Wine. Beer. Vodka and orange juice.
Had $150 worth of chicken soup and Italian food delivered with garlic knots and Nutella wraps.

If the electricity holds, all good.

Oh, Nassau County, Long Island, NY

      Everybody stay safe!!

Pacific Northwest. 50 degrees and sunny. I’ll understand if you hate me a little. Or a lot. 😛

      Just a little… ☃??⛄️??❄️❄️

        More like envy, Soccersue.
        Oh, and Nutella wraps, Faye?
        My envy is conflicted. *sigh*

        • Faye January 23, 2016 / 8:42 am

Don’t feel bad. The wraps were so-so. Next blizzard, fudge brownies.

Oh, Faye, warmed with ice cream.
            You inspire me.

Wait a sec! Why wait for the next
            blizzard? Why not next Monday?
            or Tuesday? or………

I know. I’m going to make two batches. Eat 1/2 of one batch then freeze the rest individually for emergency consumption only. Lol.

Here in Québec Canada, it’s sunny and -11c (12F). We have had a pretty warm winter so far and not a lot of snow and no blizzard so far. You guys in the US seems to be getting all the bad weather this year, Stay warm and safe guys.

Little south of Lexington KY here – has almost stopped snowing. We have about 14 inches in the front yard. Plan to stay nice & cozy in the house watching movies all day with our 6 kitties. We have a feral kitty who is camped out on our covered patio that we weather-proofed as much as we could before the storm hit. He’s snug as a bug in a rug inside the heated kitty house we bought for him. We are just glad that he was smart enough to show up before the snow got too deep!

    • Gigi_the cat lady January 23, 2016 / 11:04 am

Nice of you to provide a safe place for the feral kitty. That’s how I got my fifth cat, he was a feral we let in four winters ago and he hasn’t wanted to go out since!

      • Sixkatlady January 23, 2016 / 11:47 am

We’ve tried & tried for years to get him to come in – he’s too scared of contact. So we worry about him and protect him the best we can. Last March we had a 17 inch snow storm with temps in the single digits that kept him from us for a week & we worried that he didn’t make it. Low and behold he finally showed up hungry & bedraggled once the snow started melting.

        • Gigi_the cat lady January 23, 2016 / 12:48 pm

We were lucky with Boo (all black cat) he adapted right away which make me think that he was not always feral although he had been on his own for a while. I can’t understand how some people can just abandon their pets.

        • Faye January 23, 2016 / 1:05 pm

You are an angel to provide a heated kitty house. And the worrying.

Well here on Long Island, NY we have 10″ of snow on the ground with another 12″ expected through midnight tonight. My electric is still on.The storm is not at its worst yet.

Snow is not the only aspect to worry about here. Flooding is. Like in Hurricane Sandy, right now, the low lying towns closest to the shore (not mine) have bay and ocean water flowing into streets. The water is pushing slush and ice ahead of it. The next high tide is at 10 pm.

Will update. I woke up at 5 am. Nap time under the blankie with the cat next to me.

    • Gigi_the cat lady January 23, 2016 / 11:09 am

I love the ocean but I don’t think I would like to live right next to it. Hope everyone is safe there.

      • Faye January 23, 2016 / 1:12 pm

Yup! After Hurricane Sandy I moved inland by at least 12 miles. I can drive 25 minutes and see the Atlantic Ocean all I want on nice days throughout the year. And without my car ending up fully submerged by it in my own parking spot.

        • 6rabbits January 24, 2016 / 12:02 am

Hurricanes are one of the (few) good reasons I’m glad I live in Indiana.

  9. Laura January 23, 2016 / 12:15 pm

Here in Tampa, FL it’s 51º and windy, and people are dressed as if it’s subzero temps. Having just moved from northern Virginia, where there’s over 24″ (61 cm) of snow at my old house, I find it ridiculously entertaining to watch the locals freeze in what to me feels like a warm spring day. I assume by next year I’ll be joining them, however, as my blood thins!

Everyone in the path of the storm, please stay safe and warm and dry! And thanks for taking care of your critters, including the ferals, to keep them safe and warm and dry, too!

    • Gigi_the cat lady January 23, 2016 / 12:58 pm

The first time I went to Florida it was the first week of May and coming from Québec I couldn’t believe the people there thought it was cold ans were wearing sweaters while we were in shorts.

  10. Phred's Mom January 23, 2016 / 5:30 pm

Nice long nap. Snow still falling
here in Bucks County. Eating a
    pear and dreaming of Faye’s
    brownies. Hard to estimate
    the snowfall so far (drifting),
    looks like pushing two feet.
Hope you all are ok and warm.

    • Faye January 23, 2016 / 6:42 pm

Poached pears dipped in semisweet chocolate.

  11. Faye January 24, 2016 / 6:34 am

Well if I didn’t live with younger people I would be snowed in. 24inches+ with huge drifts.

The snow is higher than my car bumpers. Yikes!! No appointments until Tuesday though.

Never lost electricity thank goodness. My big adventure will be getting across the street tomorrow to meet the school bus.
