You Were Expecting a Chicken, Maybe?

This little cutie is a Beaded Lizard, part of the first successful hatching of Beaded Lizards at the Columbus Zoo since 2000. According to ZooBorns, the Beaded Lizard is a venomous species found in rocky regions of Central and western Mexico, and northern Central America, but due to habitat loss and poaching their numbers are diminishing.

Normally, I don’t find reptiles to be cute, but this little one is definitely saying “ehn!” so I change my mind.

Hai! I’m new! What do you recommend?

“I’m too cute to be venomous. Come closer…let me prove it!”

Great find, Maureen – I love Zooborns!

Me, too! I spend WAY too much time going back and forth between here and there while at “work” 🙂

    Hovertext has materialized! It’s magic!

I like the hovertext on this one. You’ve got me so spoiled with great hovertext, I actually find myself “hovering over” other animal pics I see on the interwebs!

    • Claire January 26, 2016 / 6:05 pm

Ha! I find myself doing that too! Glad to know I’m not the only one =)

I think we all probably do it by now. It doesn’t even have to be a cute animal pic.

That’s one of those bebehs that is simply a small version of an adult face. Like a bebeh capybara: they don’t look all innocent and helpless like a golden retriever puppeh, they just look like miniatures of their parents.

This one is definitely saying, “Here’s JOHNNY!”

    • Gigi_the cat lady January 26, 2016 / 6:44 pm

Which Here’s Johnny are you referring to? The one from the Tonight show or the one from The Shining?

      • 6rabbits January 26, 2016 / 10:47 pm

        Either would work, actually…

    • Smartypants January 26, 2016 / 8:40 pm

Yes, that has also struck me about bebeh giraffes – there’s no puppy/kitten phase, they just arrive looking like fully formed mini adults.

I’m speechless with laughter. That movie is so bad it’s good.
I agree, those anr the whitest white people I’ve ever seen and I’m a little old chubby white lady. So that’s saying a lot.
