This Was Such a Good Idea…

Thank you for suggesting that we take a walk in the middle of winter. I thought I’d hate it, but this was so much better than being indoors. Between the soft dry carpet and the warm fireplace, I was in serious danger of drifting into a life of indolence and underachievement. So thank you for saving me. Really. I mean it.

“I took my cat Kitkat out today for his first (and last) snow day,” says sender-inner Jackie S. “I thought he might enjoy the snow, but I thought wrong.”

My mom held the door wide open for the boycat. Normally he would take the opportunity to bolt and go exploring (he’s an indoor cat). He wouldn’t even step outside.

Also, made me think of this:

Yes, look out for hairballs in your nicest shoes…forever!

Kitkat is very handsome – Maine Coon? Norwegian Forest Cat?

    • Jackie S. January 29, 2016 / 3:38 pm

Thank you! I am not sure, but I think he is part Maine Coon and maybe domestic short hair?

    Funny 🙂

You must understand, cats are wild beasts: mighty hunters with an unquenchable thirst for adventure…

Sooooo long as the temperature is between 60 and 85 degrees F, with no rain, hail or thunder (or other loud noises); there is plenty of shade, drinking water and food, or entertainment, available; there are no pesky canines around…

You have a very expert understanding of the species!

I have been well trained by Suki and Shiraz

This post reminds me of two very funny moments. When I moved to Kansas from California, my CA-born black cat kept up his habit of running outside whenever the door opened (which was verboten). One winter day, he landed in snow and looked at me in shock and horror. “How could you let this happen, Mom?”

That same winter, stray kittens in the neighborhood tried to cross my snow-filled yard without actually touching their paws on the snow. Their mincing prance had me ROFLMAOing.

I would pay serious money to see a video of that!

      • debg January 29, 2016 / 11:49 am

        I know. I wish I’d taped it.

Jackie S, I fear for your safety. 😀

    Kitkat is beauuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful!!!!

  9. Faye January 29, 2016 / 11:18 am

Long cat fur with embedded snowballs definitely leads to future strategically placed nocturnal cold cat vomit. That’s a fact jack.

  10. Beemoused January 29, 2016 / 11:35 am

Just remember, Jackie: Revenge is a dish best served cold! This really does need a “massive impending doom” tag.

Jackie S, I would recommend giving KitKat lots of tuna, backing away slowly and sleeping with one eye open….forever!

  12. amyliz January 29, 2016 / 1:09 pm

That is a less than impressed face, but Kitkat is one handsome guy! ?

  13. ffleur2 January 29, 2016 / 2:33 pm

That cat doesn’t look angry to me. He looks resigned (i.e. my hoomins are so strange to think I would enjoy this). I’m sure there will be retribution but first he must ensure he is let back in the house and placed b4 a roaring fire. He will then plot destruction….

    • Jackie S. January 29, 2016 / 9:32 pm

Haha very true! Kitkat wasn’t angry at all. More like… feeling defeated 😀

  14. JenDeyan January 29, 2016 / 3:12 pm

I’m with kitteh. Not a snow person, either.

  15. Clairdelune January 29, 2016 / 4:25 pm

Kitakt, I can relate. Totally. I have the same look on my face when I’m forced to venture out in the snow. Real hatred. 🙁

    • Clairdelune January 29, 2016 / 4:26 pm

Sorry Kitkat, I misspelled your name. My fingers are freezing in spite of the heater.

  16. Ellie's Maid January 29, 2016 / 8:40 pm

Um, Jackie, I think I’d be afraid to go to sleep at night if I were you . . .

  17. Jackie S. January 29, 2016 / 9:24 pm

    Dear Kitkat admirers,
He hasn’t retaliated at all! Kitkat is very gentle and passive– he puts up with just about anything from me 🙂

    • Kar January 30, 2016 / 12:55 am

      You just jinxed yourself.

      • Ellie's Maid January 30, 2016 / 12:59 pm

        😀

  18. cheshirekittehkat January 30, 2016 / 2:54 pm

    I think Kitkat’s love for you will supercede any feelings of revenge; my cat can be furious one minute, and five minutes later he’s looking for treats….. go figure….;

    • Jackie S. January 30, 2016 / 5:53 pm

      Awwww 🙂
