It’s For Ewe

What’s the dial with these sheep? Are they in the rotary club? If I shear them, does that make me a cord cutter? If I said they reminded me ofΒ some other scary sheep featured on this site, would that be aΒ ba-a-a-a-ad connection, or just my personal hangup?

Those sheep look so real, Ginette C., they’re almost dead ringers. (art installation by Jean Luc Cornec.)

I dunno, I feel a pretty strong connection to them even though they’re a long distance from here.

NTMTOM, as usual, you’ve come up with clever, fitting remarks. This is an interesting work of art using old phones. Probably more of a historical artifact for the cell phone generation.

    Well, I didn’t need to sleep tonight…

And there’s no way I’m counting those things.

Step it up with the clever captions, NTMTOM, you’re just phoning it in.

  6. Tamara February 2, 2016 / 4:05 pm

Oh, there’s no voice mail, guess i’ll just have to call baaaaaaaaack.

Why all the down votes? Someone can’t handle so much pun in one paragraph πŸ™‚

    • myiglets February 2, 2016 / 6:11 pm

I don’t know! Maybe they got fleeced by the phone company one too many times.

  7. Haha February 2, 2016 / 4:13 pm

I just n’ewe you would come up with a great story NTMTOM!

If you all keep up with the criticisms of NTMTOM’s punning, he might find himself on the lamb soon. (Although with his talents, he mutton not.)

    • TinaK February 2, 2016 / 6:20 pm

I figured it was probably the lambots getting back at him.

Maybe the National Security Agency down voted just because they can’t hack these cute sheepses. I want me a cute sheep phone.

  12. Clairdelune February 3, 2016 / 2:58 am

OK, so is this what some commenters mean when they talk about “sheeples”??? I know a lot of them, their phones are permanently attached to their ears/heads. Except these “sheeples” are a bit behind the times , as phones are concerned.

(CREEPY!!! Reinforced my instinctive reaction against anything labeled “art installation”. IMHO, if it is “installed”, it has more in common with a toilet than with art.)

Reminds me of the time I saw a young person taking a picture of a rotary phone in an antique store. She had never seen one before.
    I AM OLD :O

    • Gigi_the cat lady February 3, 2016 / 9:25 am

There are videos on youtube called : Kids react to …. and there is one where they put a rotary phone in front of kids and let them figure out what it is and how to works. It’s hillarious but it also made me feel ancient.

LOL, when I was a kid (in the rotary-phone era) we had a stylus thingie (so the lady of the house could dial without ruining her manicure) – it was also a magnifier so you could read the phone book – another anachronism! I was struck recently that a younger person would have no idea what it was.

      • Faye February 3, 2016 / 12:52 pm

Oh I remember the dialer thingie.

You wouldn’t believe the generational impact when we stopped keeping all the NY county phone books at the library Reference Desk. “But we can look the number up for you on the computer.”

        • Faye February 3, 2016 / 12:58 pm

I have enjoyed living through the big shift to nonprint and net access.

As an example for the “kids”:
I laughed at Google the first time I saw it. Nothing but a search box! That will never work! Now, of course, accessing every bit of info through it. And no need for cook books cause of Google and YouTube. Love it!

          • Smartypants February 3, 2016 / 1:31 pm

Yes – and going from manual typewriters to electric ones, to word processors, to real computers, those first ‘electronic bulletin boards’ – then Teh Interwebz!

I remember the phase-out of the Telex machine, the first G1 fax machines, the first color copies (you had to drive to the copy shop, where they had a special machine – and it was VERY expensive) – and now it’s just stuff we do without thinking. Our whole culture has changed.

    • murkle46 February 3, 2016 / 2:27 pm

  15. Lurkingduck February 3, 2016 / 6:16 pm
