The Housing Crisis Today

Due to habitat loss, overpopulation and an increase in tree foreclosures, many creatures must endure crowded conditions, often in bad neighborhoods without organic markets or artisanal fair-trade coffee houses.

Experts predict that, if present trends were to continue indefinitely, the entire population will be living in the last remaining tree in Wichita by the year 5100.

Even family pets are not immune from the housing shortage!

They’re taking part in the tiny house trend. ?

I saw one of those Tiny House hunting shows and one of them was a treehouse…but not quite like this!

Maybe the critters have the interior filled with custom furniture. ?

Picturing little sqwerl-sized tables and chairs in there. Tiny claw-foot tub like that hairless guinea pig I saw a couple weeks ago had…

I wish I could get one of those designers to come do my place. It’s not quite that tiny but I could certainly do with some ideas to maximize my space.

Oh, I saw the series with the G-pig in the tub – so funny!

My gawd, it sounds like the real estate market in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Mountains to the north, ocean to the west, the good ol’ USA to the south, and farms to the east. There’s nowhere to go except up! My neighbourhood has always been single family homes and low rise apartment buildings but the first set of condo towers (25+ stories) have just been completed. I imagine things are going to look very, very different 10 years from now.

I’m not complaining, mind you. More people = more amenities. And from an anthropologic perspective, all this changing landscape is fascinating.

I want my own Basenji dispenser. STAT!

Squirrels trying to go through door all at the same time!! Too funny!

How do all those puppies fit in there?! Is there some TARDIS technology in pet beds I’m not aware of?

      It’s bigger on the inside!

The second photo looks like bebeh ringneck parakeets!, which is what my Sophia is. (Though of course my beast is not from the wild and is so domesticated that she runs the household from my shoulder….) Those little ones must make an adorable racket!
