Layout Changes

I’ve reorganized the sidebar. The Amazon and tip jar stuff is in an area titled “Support the Site.” Below that is the list of recent comments, then a new thing, a list of popular posts ranked by traffic.

On mobile devices, the comments and popular posts are hidden, but similar lists remain at the bottom of each page. My goal is to reduce the amount of scrolling people have to do on those devices.

Lastly, I moved one of the ads into the main column, but not in a way that disrupts the articles themselves.

I’d like to know what you think. I can undo or modify some of these changes if people don’t like them.

I will defer to other opinions. I just ordered a laptop so I can submit more easily, resize pictures etc.

But I had been using my iPhone exclusively for NTMTOM and I cannot see anything but the Stimulus and Response lists.

I used the recent comments list so that I could go back into a thread at each point and comment/speak/respond quickly. Seemed like a better/quicker way for use to really get a sense of talking directly to eac other. If anything it needed to show more comments cause things are moving faster lately and I missed some comments on my comments.

The two blessings here are you, of course, and the ability of us to talk to you and eachother with the properly nested comments.

Let others chime in though before you decide.

    Ad placement no prob imho.

Faye, this is good feedback, and thank you. I had assumed that people would consider two sets of comments and posts lists cluttering on mobile screens, but nobody’s actually complained to me about the mobile layout at all. Perhaps I assume incorrectly.

Mike, Could you please move your question and my response to layout thread. Thank you.

OK, done. I had never received a request to move a comment before, and realized that WordPress by default has no method for that. But there are add-on softwares to make that possible, and I tried one and it worked. Thank you, Faye, I enjoy getting to learn new things.

Thank you. And you are welcome!! Always a positive experience here. I’m not complaining, just responding in detail. ?

This layout is very much like another blog I read frequently, so I’m used to it. I don’t honestly pay that much attention to those lists (because that blog has more ads in the side – one or two being videos that chrome blocks – and other stuff so I’ve pretty much learned to ignore the whole thing).

(On a side note, one of these days I will figure out how to put my own avatar on my comments.)

On another side note, I just clicked on an ad and now I have two tabs open with t-shirts I am considering buying…

I shopped at Zulilly because of NTMTOM. Sounds like as good an excuse as any.

Ok. Reality snapped back into place. What was that strange interlude when I couldn’t follow each and every comment obsessively? Someone must have activated the Cone Of Confusion. I feel so much better now!!! Almost normal…
