Too Big to Keep Until Bunday! (Updated)

No, it’s not the dreaded Were-Rabbit, it’s Atlas — possibly Scotland’s biggest bunny. According to the BBC, the Scottish SPCA is looking for a suitable home for the seven-month-old continental giant rabbit, currently the size of a small dog and still growing. Atlas is a “very friendly rabbit who loves attention and getting cuddles,” says the SPCA center manager.

A rabbit so large, it took sender-inners Andrew Y., Heather R., Julie H., and Paul P. just to lug it into my inbox.

UPDATE: Reader 6rabbits sent this link to an article about Darius and son Jeff, who are even larger than Atlas!

    Hare o’ the dog? Buntiful?

I want Atlas sooo bad but alas, an ocean divides us. I hope he finds a good, loving home. For many, it’s hard to believe there are such large rabbit breeds. They are gentle giants but I wouldn’t want to be kicked by one.

My bunny lies over the ocean
My bunny lies over the sea
My bunny lies over the ocean
Oh bring back my bunny to me

(Being raised mostly in French, I really thought the song was about a bunny and not la bonnie lass and could not undertand what the bunny was lying about)

That’s hysterical! The nuances we lose in translation!
That’s one of the songs my Dad sang to us at bedtime when we were little.?

I think Darius, another of this breed, holds the title for largest rabbit. I don’t know if I could handle that much disapproval!

      But Atlas Look surprisingly disapprovingless!

      • Jerzowa February 10, 2016 / 2:11 pm

Looks. I disapprove of the autocorrect.

Atlas has the map to my heart!

…I’m so sorry. I’ll go now.

I thought I saw Atlas Shrug in referencing your heart. I dunno, it’s all Greek to me.

This fellow practically writes his own jokes – A-bun-dant? Bun-tiful? And his name is perfect! He looks like a sweetie, too – I don’t see a trace of disapproval.

He could contact the International Space Station with those ears.

If you put a 1 year old child in a bunny costume next to this rabbit, they would be the SAME size!!!

Those things have been known to KILL people. Oh wait, that’s the icicles.

      • Deb February 10, 2016 / 11:37 pm

        He’s even nailed the disapproval!

I would love to see my feline herd react to this gorgeous giant! He outweighs my chubster Josephine by a lot, I would bet.

Dear heavens, that thing is 7 months old?

That thing is going to be big enough to ride.

    • Faye February 10, 2016 / 6:45 pm

      Large hopping thing. Lol.

Atlas and Darius would be perfect for the remake of NIGHT OF THE LEPUS

Gorgeous bun! But, I shudder thinking about having to clean up the pellets let by this giant – rrequire a sturdy, large shovel. 😉

    • Faye February 11, 2016 / 1:39 pm

I was thinking the same thing. Those raisins would be Jumbo size. Bigger than a raisin but hopefully smaller than a prune!!
