The Curse o’the MacGregors

Sit ye down, laddehs, while your Uncle Angus tells his tale of woe. ‘Twas a night just like this one, o’er a hundred year ago, and Duncan MacGregor, sire to the MacGregor clan, were lost in the dark forest, where nary a man dared go.

‘Twas then he heard a strange sound, like naught what he’d ever heard inna his thirty-odd years. Cautiously, he followed it to a clearing, and what he saw made him doubt his own eyes: Six wee fluffeh bunnehs in a circle, bonny as could be — but their unearthly chant dinna’nae sound like nae bunneh he’d ever heard.

As Duncan crept closer, one’o the wee beasties spied ‘im, and in a piercing wail they chanted as one: agarn ne’barth twee flobber schlamozzel, the ancient Scots curse o’the farmer. And e’er since that fateful night, nae a man in clan MacGregor can till the soil wi’out gettin’ bedeviled by demon rabbits from Hell itself.

I think this bunstar is a special formation that enables the buns to twitch their noses in code at each other as they plot to take over the world! Today the MacGregors, tomorrow the planet!

    Six Bunnies Of The Apocalypse?

Not as intimidating as those horsemen we keep hearing about.

Pentagrams are so last century – Bun-o-grams are where it’s at! 😀

Only NTMTOM can look at a picture of 6 cute fluffy bun buns and come up a story like that. And the hovertext, CLASSIC! I bow to the master.

That reminds me…NTMTOM, knowing that you like H. P. Lovecraft…have you read any Cornell Woolrich?

I just got a set of his novellas and really enjoyed them – he’s like Lovecraft in some ways (both American pulp writers doing Weird horror in about the same era), but his style is so different and he uses adventure/crime themes along with the supernatural. Lots of fun if you haven’t sampled him!

Please pardon me chiming in, but Woolrich is great! He might be best known for writing the original story for Rear Window? but he wrote a lot of stuff under different names. Very noir, like he builds traps for his characters. Sort of like 20th century Poe; much heebie jeebies.

Please do chime in – glad to hear from another Woolrich reader! It’s always fun to discover a new (old) author, isn’t it? I’ll definitely be looking up more of his work. (this collection is called “Dark Melody of Madness” and has a good intro by Bill Pronzini).

I just want to kneel down ,wrap my arms around all those precious bebeh bunnehs and snorgle and kees them all.

I’ll take that curse. I’m in IT so whenever I wanna snorgle a bunneh I can just dig up some dirt in the backyard and PRESTO! Sure they might nibble a bit more than your average bunneh but what’s a few wounds compared to a demon bunneh barrage. ^________^

What kind of worries me is what they did with those poor kitties and doggies. Apparently they’ve decorated the floor of their lair with the pelts of their enemies.
