And Don’t Forget the Turtle Wax

Shout-out to Annimator for making a return visit to the tip jar. I’m very grateful for the repeat “customers,” for lack of a better word, but mainly I’m happy that so many readersΒ come back day after day. Why I’m as happy as a tortoise taking a shower!

I wish I could think of an awful pun to start things off, but I’m drawing a total blank!

Many years ago I was a contestant on TV show (yes, I lost on Jeopardy), and was greatly disappointed to learn that one of my consolation prizes was NOT the case of Turtle Wax that had been the consolation gift of choice for so many years. I did, however, at least receive my lifetime supply of Rice-a-Roni (ding ding!), the San Francisco Treat. πŸ˜€ (You can thank me for the earworm later.)

            Nice touch.

Thank you posting! I hope everyone likes him… or her, too young to tell.?? Leopard tortoises are the fourth largest tortoise. We’ll be building an outdoor habitat when he’s bigger.

How old was the tortoise when this was taken? (I’m assuming this video is recent)

      • alison February 29, 2016 / 6:43 pm

Yes. We just adopted him a few weeks ago from the Phoenix Herpatological Society. He’s probably a few months old. Just a baby.

I am so happy you have a wonderful turtle friend! The shell pattern is so beautiful.

            Thank you! πŸ™‚

I can’t believe no one has said it yet. Are you so happy you could incubate a sprinkler, NTMTOM?

    • Murray February 29, 2016 / 9:33 pm

I was thinking the same thing, Mr. Max!

    • Lurkingduck March 1, 2016 / 12:32 am

      Thank you!

He looks so content. Reminds me of Jerry, the red-eared slider I had for the longest time.

    • Alison February 29, 2016 / 8:39 pm

We have five of those, all rescues. πŸ™‚ You should post a picture of Jerry!

So cute! And the water really brings out the bright colors of his/her shell. I love the chubby little legs.

    • Alison February 29, 2016 / 8:40 pm

Thanks! He… or she… is a joy to have. πŸ™‚

So beautiful and precious. A jewel. Angel from god.

    • alison March 1, 2016 / 12:20 am

Thank you, so sweet. πŸ™‚ We have so many critters and were happy to adopt this little one.

BΓ©bΓ© tortoise has a name? Not that he (or she) would answer to it, but you never know.

    • Alison February 29, 2016 / 8:58 pm

      Not yet, suggestions anyone? πŸ™‚

      • fkaWaldenPond February 29, 2016 / 10:42 pm

She is a stunner! Her back reminds me of the art deco elevator doors within the Chrysler Building designed by William Van Alen; surely a woman was involved in the creation of that design. How about feminizing Alen to say Alene? Or not. πŸ™‚ I tried (still not good at uploading images here as they are always too big) or I would include one of the doors. Please look them up! Or would you prefer a name that nods to her African heritage?

        • bananabreadhead March 1, 2016 / 12:09 am

Her shell pattern does look art deco; just refreshed my memory, via the internet, of the Chrysler Building’s elevator doors. You have a great eye.

She looks like a jewel box to me.

          • alison March 1, 2016 / 12:17 am

            Great ideas, thank you! πŸ™‚

            • Faye March 1, 2016 / 9:09 am

I was going to suggest Jewel.

      • Saffron March 1, 2016 / 9:06 am

Stan is a fine name. πŸ™‚

  8. Faye March 1, 2016 / 9:11 am

Art or Deco for art deco. Precious. Works for boy or girl. And you can chant “My precious.”

Reminds me of that sweet tortoise on CO who wore dresses and worked as a therapy animal. Maybe this little guy or gal could also grow up to a be a snappy dresser and cheer up sick people πŸ™‚ When I’m in an old folks home, there’s just about nothing I want to see more than a tortoise in a tux or tutu.

    • Faye March 2, 2016 / 8:49 am

Yup, me too. Therapy tortoise would make my day now too.
