The Toughest Part is the Arpoochio

And now on “Classical Corner,” we present renowned virtuoso Don Piano, performing an arrangement of Sergei Ruffmaninoff’s piano concerto in squee minor. This is a technically complex piece, requiring the player to rotate in place at key intervals.

I love how he keeps looking at the music, then at one point looks at the camera as if to say, “Wait…I don’t know how to read this stuff! … Oh well…” [pounds some more].

    Actually, the song’s kinda catchy…

This is the cutest, most wonderful dog on the planet earth! I’m certain about this. We can roll up the cute puppeh section of the Internet.

I think you’re right — I love everything about this little video. I laugh out loud every time I watch it and that’s been at least five times today!

But where’s his duet partner Long John? Or was that the one with the tie?

Sorry Don, you’ll never be as good as certain bunnehs:

(Sorry for the dub, it was the best clip I could find)

Dressed all in white, singing, twirling. Tail wagging too. Same stylist and choreographer as Lady G. at the Oscars?

Much more cute by far. Best doggie performance at a piano. Sooo self directed and happy. I’m in love.

Cute but I sure wouldn’t let my dog do it on my piano – claws would damage the wood finish.

    Ah, Bach. 😀

That dog sure is enjoying himself!

I had a cat that would play the piano at night. I’d be in bed and hear music and wonder where in the world it was coming from. I finally followed the sound to the living room. Turned on the light and there sat Jake on the piano bench playing. He was just sitting there and would reach out and play a note several times.

I don’t know if he was doing it because he had seen me do it and wondered what the deal was or what!

I caught him doing that many times!

I would love that!! You are so lucky!!

Yeah, it really was cool! 🙂 I miss that!

I wonder what the cats would do if my parents left the piano open. The boy gets up on it sometimes, though he is strongly discouraged from doing so because there are a lot of picture frames and other breakables on it. They already cleared off the top of the entertainment center for him. He shouldn’t be greedy. 😉

The boy would probably have fun while girl would be afraid of the noise (she’s afraid of just about everything).

In the good old days, my Mom and I used to play “Ruffmaninoff” duets. Out four hands would barely complete what he had written for two hands. I remember during those adventures my mantra was “Wait a minute, wait a minute”.

    • Ellie's Maid February 29, 2016 / 8:23 pm

      😀 That’s been my mantra, too! 😀

    Welp…s/he plays better than I ever did….

He should get together with Norah the piano-playing cat!

Chopin’s Waltz in D-flat major, Op. 64, No. 1, “Valse du petit chien” (Waltz of the little dog), aka the Minute Waltz, was inspired when Chopin watched his friend’s little dog chasing its tail going in circles.
