    GAH!! This is too adorable.

Doggerson now cannot eat caramel or popcorn! I wonder if he will have those little colored rubber bands like I did. 😀

The story on Buzzfeed has some unkind commenters. 🙁 My two tabbeh brothers had to have almost all their teeth pulled due to serious recurring gum disease (one little goober was hospitalized because the infection went into his bloodstream..he is fine now). It was the right thing to do as bot are now happy and healthy and can nom kibbles as well as soft food. When our anipals need help and we are able to give it to them, then why not? I think this kind human is awesome and am thankful her vet Dad was able to help. I wish her and her wonderful dog many many many happy years together. <3

I saw this story via Bored Panda. Molly, the puppy’s human momma explains that “Once his adult teeth started coming out, we noticed… he was unable to close his mouth fully,” “He wasn’t playing with his toys and he was losing weight” hence the braces!!

He does have a beautifull smile!!

I can only imagine the headgear.

Wait a minute. Ages ago I had braces, and now I use an iPhone.
I’M THR ER MR GRD GIRL.

I have never heard of a dog with braces! Hopefully he doesn’t have to go through 11 years with the orthodontist like I did! (Only 3 of them with braces, but still. My teeth were messed up.)

I really thought this was photoshopped but I just read the story on Buzzfeed. So sweet! Glad puppers has someone to care for him.

  7. hilz March 1, 2016 / 10:30 am

I would’ve given anything to still be that cute when I had braces! I so want to put a little beanie propeller hat on him for some reason.

I have to admit at first my thoughts were that these people were crazy, like the people who let the vet implant fake balls into the remaining part of the scrotum of their neutered male dog. I apologize, I am so sorry. Nothing of the sort in this story!

      Go big or go home.
Seriously, is this a guy thing?

      • Mr. Max March 2, 2016 / 6:01 am

        It’s a guy thing.

        • Haha March 2, 2016 / 5:27 pm

          SNERK
Really. I should add nothing more that is going through my mind.

Have you ever seen those fake “family jewels” that hang on the back of one’s vehicle? I have seen the all-too-detailed-and-entirely-too-realistic pink rubber ones (SERIOUSLY NSFW, not to mention the highways!). For those who want to declare their inadequacy with “style”, they also make them in chrome. Nothing says “class” like a pair of metallic man-parts dangling off your trailer hitch!

This all reminds me of a guy I used to see nearly every day on my way to work who had a Porsche with the vanity license plate “BIG ONE”. Now I confess I am utterly incapable of refraining from heaping scorn upon someone who so clearly deserves it. So, every day, I’d pull up next to him at the stoplight, honk my horn, smile, and hold my fingers up about an inch apart (two inches if I was feeling generous that day). EVERY day the look of shock and outrage on his face was priceless. It was even more fun when he had a Special Lady Friend of the Week with him. She would inevitably start giggling uncontrollably while he got apoplectic. This went on for months! He finally seemed to realize that the easiest way to avoid the self-inflicted mockery was to change his travel route. If he had stopped looking over every time I honked, maybe I would have stopped! (Maybe). But NOOO! I believe he thought that THIS day– unlike all the other days before!–THIS day instead of being honked at by SnarkyPants, he would instead be gazing upon (thank Hugh Hefner!) some buxom young nymphomaniac who, enthralled by his false vehicular advertising, was trying to entice him into a round of backseat boogie. (“When the Porsche is a’rockin’ don’t come a’knockin’!”)

Clearly “BIG ONE” didn’t apply to his brain, either.

              Priceless.

So Loreena Bobbit didn’t stop to think she could get that bronzed.

              Guess not.

I would do this for my dogs if they needed it.

Yes, I am a crazy chihuahua lady.

    • Mr. Max March 2, 2016 / 12:13 am

Faye and Julie, I thought of you when this lovely little Wawa was dumped by my house this weekend. The vet thinks she was a puppy mill mama. Fortunately, she is super sweet and cute, and gets along with my other dogs. Thus, she’ll have to stay here, despite the fact that it will TOTALLY RUIN my reputation as a badass pit bull rescuer.

      • Faye March 2, 2016 / 8:36 am

Ooo Mr. Max! What a little beauty.

There’s nothing more manly than a guy showing he is secure enough to come to the chihuahua side.

Pleeease keep us up to date. Have fun!!

Omgosh you gave me a case of morning chihuahua brain.

        • Mr. Max March 2, 2016 / 3:39 pm

Morning chihuahua brain. Is that what I have before coffee?

      • Julie March 2, 2016 / 11:12 am

        Oh, she’s beautiful!!!

Please let us know what you decide for her name. And share more pictures, please!

Yay!! Thank you for taking care of her!

      • Faye March 2, 2016 / 1:45 pm

How is she doing? Yes, more pictures please.

      • Saffron March 2, 2016 / 2:59 pm

Mr Max, you are the BEST!
I am melting in those cute wawa eyes.
        MORE PICTURES PLEASE!!

        • Mr. Max March 2, 2016 / 3:42 pm

Thank you, everyone! She is camera shy and I don’t want to stress her, but will post more pics as I can. She is doing very well, and is already beginning to try to boss around dogs much larger than she is, which I understand is typical for Wawas!

Tentative names are Iris (Greek messenger and rainbow goddess, a favorite of mine), or Arya, as in the Game of Thrones character. She’s feisty enough to be the latter.

          • Faye March 2, 2016 / 4:45 pm

Sooo good to hear she is settling in. I love her dark face and fuzzy coat. You are both so lucky to have found eachother. I am curious if she likes to get under a blanket. Most chiwawas are blanket burrowers. Maybe not if she was from a mill. ?

      • Haha March 2, 2016 / 5:37 pm

        SHE’S SO FUZZY! 😀
        Love!

      • Gigi_the cat lady March 2, 2016 / 7:44 pm

If she was mine, I would call her Belle, because she is so beautiful.

You are one of the good guy Mr Max, we should start a Men of NTNTOM calendar just for you.

        • Mr. Max March 3, 2016 / 2:03 am

Well, thank you re: the calendar, but I assure you NTMTOM deserves his own Men of NTMTOM calendar far more than I.

As for the name, I actually thought of calling her Belladonna, because of both her beauty and the “I’m going to kick your butt! All 7 pounds of me!” streak. Then I realized everyone would call her Bella, and I DON’T want to bring up characters from those wretched, angsty teen vampire movies so popular a few years ago. (Seriously, vamps are immortal and eternally young. Why all the moping and brooding?)

          • Faye March 3, 2016 / 8:58 am

So feisty. 7 pounder. Brings back wonderful memories.

  10. Kay Fabe March 1, 2016 / 1:52 pm

He’ll fit in well now with the cat.

    • Mr. Max March 2, 2016 / 12:14 am

      Holy crap, that’s hilarious.

  11. Gigi_the cat lady March 1, 2016 / 1:57 pm

Some people just don’t understand how much we love our pets. I remember people asking me why I didn’t just get a new cat when my 10 year old cat Boots was diagnose with diabetes and needed insulin injection twice a day. They didn’t understand why I would spend that kind of money on an animal. Boots lived for another 5 years before complication took him away.

    • Julie March 1, 2016 / 9:01 pm

This is an example of pet people vs. non-pet people:

My neighbor (who didn’t have any pets) was dog sitting for a friend and we got to talking about how nice it was for her to do that especially since putting your dog in a kennel is so expensive, and when I told her how much it was (sometimes $30/day), she said “…but after a week, that would be over $200! Can’t you buy a new dog for that much?”

I had a good laugh about that.

  12. Kar March 1, 2016 / 6:39 pm

Does someone have a link to this guy’s story? I wouldn’t wish braces on anyone but I’m guessing that this puppy needed them desperately.

  13. anonymous coward March 1, 2016 / 10:17 pm

    Wow, braces for a dog?!?

besides not knowing it was even possible, after going through this myself as an adult, i can’t fathom how they managed to get the poor pup to accept/tolerate them. especially at the beginning, when it hurts the most.

p.s.: yeah, i’m *the* a-c that used to hang around c-o.
    p.p.s.: is oakley around?
p.p.p.s.: omg, i have the same avatar over here!

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike March 2, 2016 / 12:11 am

Welcome, AC, I remember you! No Oakley, I’m afraid, but she’d be most welcome here.

      • Lurkingduck March 3, 2016 / 12:36 am

Someone please contact Oakley and let her know.

        • Faye March 3, 2016 / 9:02 am

I tried to Google her avatar name to see if she was posting some place other than CO. Nothing.
