New Species: Wide-Eyed Tribble

The Wide-Eyed Tribble (opticus giganticus) is a species of legless furball that catches and subdues its prey with the sheer overwhelming power of its cuteness.

Actually, it’s Gimo, a cat on Instagram that is tearing up the Internet. Lürkensproingen!

Lethal levels of cuteness. Naturally, from Japan.

    • Julie March 5, 2016 / 10:50 am

Nope, sorry guys, this time it’s Korea for the win!!

      • debg March 5, 2016 / 7:55 pm

Thanks, Julie. I’m not up on my world alphabets.

I wish there was a way to set this blog up so that you were forced to read through each each post in stages. First, the title, then click through for the the caption, then click for the “spit out your beverage” moment.

It’s always a good idea to keep your browser window small, if possible, so you don’t accidentally see too much at once. And remember, scroll slowly!

Does anyone else remember “Roy the Froy”? More than a passing similarity.

    • ^oo^ March 5, 2016 / 3:34 pm

Yes! Around 1965 or so, I had a pink one.

      • Murray March 5, 2016 / 10:31 pm

Thank goodness! I thought maybe I was making it up!

        • ^oo^ March 5, 2016 / 10:33 pm

I also remember that it came with a card with a poem that included the line “a boy-like toy is Roy the Froy”. Whatever that was supposed to mean…

          • Murray March 5, 2016 / 11:43 pm

I don’t remember that – interesting, since yours was pink. I seem to remember human-shaped foot silhouettes glued to the bottom. Egad, it’s weird what can emerge from the long-ago portion of the brain!?

I want to incubate this! It’s so cute I inhaled my tea instead of snorting it. WANT!

  7. Clairdelune March 5, 2016 / 12:32 pm

Gimo wins – I’m captured and surrender gladly. I’d like to order half a dozen of these, please, no need to wrap them, I want to snorgle them immediately.

    Tribble butt wiggle FTW!

    It looks so innocent. Dedly.

Seems some geniuses at iCAT RESEARCH finally found the minimum requirements to enslave the human species: glowing moon eyes, black velvet floof, a hint of tufting, self guiding rear positioning mechanism, and gliding turbo forward motion activators.

No need for tail, legs, paws, ears, nose or mouth. Lightweight and economical too.

Eventually available in white, silver, space gray, and orange.

      Irresistible.

I recommend a visit to the account. There are four cats and an artistic human with a very good camera.

If he was orange he could be a real life Puss-in-boots

    • Faye March 5, 2016 / 3:25 pm

      Yup!

  11. Starfish March 5, 2016 / 5:01 pm

  12. Jen8 March 5, 2016 / 5:05 pm

    Oh Long Johnson!!!

And again, they could use this SWEETIE as a secret weapon….. Let a goodly number of these loose in the embassies of the most powerful countries in the world, and our not-friends will be brought to their knees, chasing these ‘dorables
    around embassy drawing-rooms, calling after them in baby-talk, and pro-offering sundry goodies, treats, and toys, meanwhile mumbling words of endearment in an effort to get them to sit on their laps and be petted….. Wars will be forgotten, animosity will have vanished, and hatchets buried……;

I vote that we flood the UN General Assembly with such extreme cuteness!
