And I Will Love Him, and Sniff Him…

I can’t even come up with anything snarky to write about this. It’s just too cute.

Is the dog’s name Lenny? Adorable video!

      • allein March 7, 2016 / 2:17 pm

I hope not! Lenny didn’t have so much luck with the rabbits, as I recall…

        • 6rabbits March 7, 2016 / 8:08 pm

          Wasn’t it mice?

          • Faye March 7, 2016 / 9:44 pm

            Rabbits.

            • Murray March 7, 2016 / 9:54 pm

Lenny did have a mouse in his pocket that he kept stroking.

    Head exploding cuteness!

That reminds me of a story my mother told; when I was in college the cat caught a baby rabbit ( he never hurt anything he caught) and since the cat was Manx it was hard to tell which was which watching them run.

  4. allein March 7, 2016 / 1:03 pm

    Eep! The teeny tiny hippety-hops!!

  5. Ricky's Mom March 7, 2016 / 1:19 pm

It’s like you knew it was my birthday! So much squee.

  6. Luv Bunny March 7, 2016 / 1:48 pm

Oh where’s that bebeh bunneh’s Mommee? Glad that goldie was so gentle with the bunneh, some dogs wouldn’t have been. So much squee in such a small body.

    • Murray March 7, 2016 / 3:21 pm

Once baby bunnies are out like that, they’re on their own. Even in the nest they only see mom twice a day for a brief feeding. I’m afraid my cat, in her youth, was rather hard on baby bunnies – way too easy to catch.

      • allein March 7, 2016 / 3:43 pm

My brother found a bunny nest in his backyard while he was mowing the lawn one day (that could have ended badly!). He took some pictures and then put them back. Mom came back later that day. Sadly, I do not seem to have the pictures in my email. 🙁

        • Amy March 7, 2016 / 4:50 pm

My husky mix found a rabbit warren in the yard one morning, years ago. I only realized what he was doing when he came full-body wagging up to me with a baby bunny in his mouth, so proud that he had his very own baby bunny! He was so disappointed that I made him put it down, but the baby was fine (if a little slobbered on) and took off running.

          • allein March 7, 2016 / 4:52 pm

            I’ll bet he ran!

I’ll try to remember to post pictures when I get home. They didn’t have their eyes open yet!

          • allein March 7, 2016 / 7:06 pm

            Here’s one of the bunnies.

            • allein March 7, 2016 / 7:06 pm

              And mom.

            • Faye March 7, 2016 / 7:44 pm

I still have not ever touched a bunny. Shucks.

        • Julie March 7, 2016 / 7:18 pm

My parents claimed to have rabbits living in their yard. So they didn’t mow b/c they didn’t want to disturb the rabbits. And my mom claimed that the adult rabbit would come out of the grass to the deck when she called because of the carrots she offered.

I’m sure the neighbors were thrilled.

          • allein March 7, 2016 / 7:42 pm

lol…my brother just mowed around them.

I wonder if mom picked his yard and not the neighbors’ because of the ginormous Saint Bernard next door.

(We brought my Chihuahua over there once and he was meandering near the fence, which is one of those chain link deals with the plastic strips woven through it, so you can’t see through it unless you get up close to peek through the gaps. Pablo didn’t notice the big doggie, who must have smelled him, so he came over near the fence. When he suddenly realized there was a dog with a head twice as big as his whole body right on the other side, he jumped back about two feet. I felt bad but it was hilarious. 🙂 )

            • Faye March 7, 2016 / 7:47 pm

Your lucky Pablo was scared. Some chihuahua would have scaled the fence with you attached to the leash.

            • allein March 7, 2016 / 11:15 pm

Heh. He wasn’t on a leash. He was a meanderer; easy to catch, so we didn’t bother with a leash in the yard. He also wasn’t much of an animal person. 😉 As long as other animals left him alone, he just ignored them. (Unfortunately for him, the cats didn’t always leave him alone.) He was the most chill Chihuahua you’d ever meet.

Correction– I meant Labbie, not a Goldie, in my previous comment. I’ll blame it on my tablet and not my eye sight without glasses.

  8. Mariana Paes March 7, 2016 / 1:55 pm

good lord, the dog, the bunny, the trees, the meadow.. is this even real???

I want to go to there

  9. Faye March 7, 2016 / 2:10 pm

    Gentledog.

    • Haha March 7, 2016 / 10:16 pm

      FAYE!!!???!!!
      Never touched a bunny!!!???!!!
Hie thee to a rescue gathering, shelter, whatever!
They are so amazingly cloud like soft. Nothing like doggie fur. Ghhhaaaaa, my fingers ache for you.

      • Faye March 7, 2016 / 10:30 pm

No bunny rescue or shelter with bunnies near me.

Maybe the Galaxy will conspire to remedy my sad circumstances. One can hope.

        • Murray March 8, 2016 / 9:22 am

Faye, I will gladly send you a Baggie of Bunny Fluff from brushing my buns!?

        • 6rabbits March 8, 2016 / 8:25 pm

Do you have county fairs? Here in the mid-west every county has a fair–usually sponsored by 4-H Club–and there are all sorts of animals being shown and sold. You should be able to get a bunny owner to let you hold one. Usually there are a couple of litters for sale. You can see every type of bun imaginable! You can also pet the leetle goats!

  10. Emmberrann March 7, 2016 / 2:25 pm

Doggie should be very careful about huffing this bunlet or he’ll huff him right up!

  11. kittykat416 March 7, 2016 / 4:33 pm

Babeh bunneh says: “Come back down here, I want to give you a kees!”

  12. Kar March 7, 2016 / 4:36 pm

That is one cool bunny, being huffed by something that big and not even flinching.

    • 6rabbits March 7, 2016 / 8:35 pm

Bunnies that age are VERY good at playing statue! It is their only defense. I have walked within a half-foot of one not realising it until *SPROING*run zigzag run zigzag run zigzag run goes the bun!
A friend’s husband was mowing some very long grass on an abandoned property, when all of a sudden…baby buns were exploding upwards from the grass and shooting off in all directions and Snap! they were gone! All except for one bun, who just stopped in the middle of the street. My friend walked right up to it, picked it up, and carried it to her yard where the small rocket-bun launched herself out of my friend’s hand and practically _flew_ into the shrubbery!

  13. cheshirekittehkat March 7, 2016 / 5:37 pm

Maybe the Lab imprinted on the bunny….. I guess it doesn’t take much sometimes for animal babies think another animal is their mother. Labs are really gentle, though: they can be such big goofy sillies one minute, and the next they’re kissing small babies and slobbering all over them. If you are sick, they know it, and start acting like Nurse Nellie…..; Heart-doggies….!!

  14. Ellie's Maid March 7, 2016 / 5:38 pm

    BUNNY!!!!!! BABY BUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooooo! Hop over this way, little bunny!!! I’ll protect you from being snuffed up by that doggie!!!!

Makes me think of the time (many many years ago) when one of the cats was in the backyard acting funny. I went out and saw that she had a baby bunny in her mouth! I grabbed her up and shook her yelling “Put it down! Put it down!!” Poor cat! She dropped him and I took him back to the brush pile I think he was living in.

    😀

    I’ve always had a thing for bunnies . . .

  15. Lurkingduck March 7, 2016 / 5:57 pm

Tiny baby bunny heart melty. It looked like it had hiccups, its jumps were so small.

    • Faye March 7, 2016 / 7:30 pm

AWWW. Hiccup sized jumping. Well said.

    • Brandi March 8, 2016 / 5:56 am

Baby bunnies get hiccups a lot! It’s very cute. I’ve never seen hiccuping make them jump, but it’s an adorable thought.

  16. Diane in Los Angeles March 7, 2016 / 7:02 pm

I hope the down votes (I see two) were an accident. Either that or someone’s heart is about a million sizes too small. Popcorn bunny!

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike March 7, 2016 / 7:36 pm

That’s OK, the downvotes help me make the blog better, just like the upvotes. BTW, hellooooo Los Angeles!

      • Clairdelune March 8, 2016 / 5:12 am

Hello Mike, I have a question: how can I confirm that you are receiving the monthly tip?
And thank you ever so much for setting up this place where each day I can find something to smile about!

        • Murray March 8, 2016 / 11:30 am

          I enthusiastically concur!

        • Not That Mike The Other Mike March 8, 2016 / 6:54 pm

Clair, sorry for not answering this sooner: I get a confirmation when I receive a monthly payment. As for what the end user gets, I’m not sure. I can only assume that PayPal sends a notification as well as logs the payment in the user’s account balance.

    • fkaWaldenPond March 7, 2016 / 7:54 pm

      Helicopter bunny parents. *shrug*

  17. Jan March 7, 2016 / 8:35 pm

One minute and five seconds of brain melting. Exactly what I needed on a Monday!

  18. Blakeney March 7, 2016 / 8:50 pm

That is the sweetest bit of sweetness I have seen in a long time. Just hope baby bun doesn’t go bravely hopping up to every four legged critter she sees. But what a gentle sweet doggie! Even when leaping up to keep bun from crawling under him, he got up carefully.

  19. allein March 7, 2016 / 11:20 pm

Oh my goodness. I just watched this for the third time (one last time before bed) and it’s the first time I had sound on. I should sleep well tonight because I am well and truly DED right now.

  20. Lurkingduck March 8, 2016 / 12:51 am

Someone find out which town Faye is in, and get her a bunny! Easter’s coming.

    • Murray March 8, 2016 / 9:38 am

Oh, please, people, don’t buy bunnies – the Rabbit Rescue community has a campaign, “Make Mine Chocolate” to discourage people from buying bunnies at pet store. It may seem odd, but bunnies are considered exotic pets because their needs are so specific and they are very fragile – not good pets for very young children. If anyone is considering getting a rabbit, do it through a rescue and do your research. The House Rabbit Society is the best source of information. (Sorry about the soap box, but I do love those critters and know how vulnerable they are)

      • Lurkingduck March 8, 2016 / 11:18 am

Sorry, Murray, should have been clearer. I don’t approve of giving pets in this manner. I just want Faye to touch a bunny, and this time of year seems to favour bunnies.

        • allein March 8, 2016 / 11:22 am

County Fair season will be coming up soon enough. Maybe Faye can find one to pet at the 4H booths.

          • Faye March 8, 2016 / 12:02 pm

We DO have a County Fair. I went once years ago. My mother had a similar deprivation. She had never touched a horse’s nose. I had and I couldn’t convince her how soft they are. I was able to drag her over to a team of giant farm horses. Ooo soft and so warm. She was so surprised. Good memory. Maybe I can go and report in to you all. Hmmm.

            • allein March 8, 2016 / 12:04 pm

Good luck! Last year I got to pet some goats and a snake. 🙂

            • Haha March 8, 2016 / 1:07 pm

Yes! Please do and keep us posted if you achieve success! 🙂

            • Faye March 8, 2016 / 1:45 pm

              I will try.

        • Murray March 8, 2016 / 11:36 am

Hey, that’s OK – it was an opportunity to educate which is something the rescue I work with encourages us to do. I know this is a critter friendly group and I may be preaching to the choir!

  21. Clairdelune March 8, 2016 / 5:07 am

I don’t know which is more heart-melting, the big, sweet doggie or the teeny-tiny adorable baby bunneh! 😀

  22. Blakeney March 8, 2016 / 9:17 pm

Just watched again (had to), At 0:49-0:53 in addition to friendly doggy whines I think you can hear little bunny making “eh, eh” noises as he hops. So cute! Didn’t think bunnies made much noise!
