Wom Nom Nom…

A little insight into me: I work at home, and I’m not always aware of what day it is. So I’m thankful for reader Heather R., who posted to my Facebook page, requesting a wombat for Wednesday. So now I know it’s Wednesday. Thank you, Heather; here’s your wombat, in time for lunch:

That is one blissful looking wombat!☺

I wonder what their noses feel like.

    • Faye March 9, 2016 / 8:00 pm

      Me too. Sigh.

      • Haha March 9, 2016 / 9:27 pm

Ok Faye, bunny fur is one thing. I don’t have much in the suggestion area for the ability of gently bopping a wombat nose. Maybe a zoo’s petting area?
Cincinnati Zoo has an awesome Lorikeet Landing. You can have the Lorikeets land on you while you feed them the provided foods.
One can always hold out hope in the experiencing of various animal textures.
        Loving and longing sigh. 🙂

          Animal Textures

          Great title for a book.

          Chapter One: Armadillos
          Leathery

            2:
            Baboons Bristly.

Armadillos: surprising softies in the undercarriage area. Don’t ask me how I know that.

He looks a little big to still be bottle fed, then again who cares? I would feed him all the milk he wants as long as he would let me coddle him and give him belly rubs and kiss his nose.

And NTMTOM, no worries about not knowing what day it is, I can’t wait until October when I will retire and won’t have to know the day of the week either.

    • Ms Can Opener March 9, 2016 / 2:19 pm

The one I saw in a zoo in Sydney was much bigger than this, more the giant bunny size. So this is a baby.

    • beemoused March 9, 2016 / 2:53 pm

I want to retire and raise wombats! And quokkas (we need more quokkas!), and chinchillas and bunnies and kitties and……..

I’m sensing a trend here and I suspect it’s going to lead to my husband having me committed.

        • Gigi_the cat lady March 9, 2016 / 3:29 pm

“”groan”” NTMTOM that was 260Oakley wotrhy.

          • beemoused March 9, 2016 / 4:42 pm

            I totally agree!

        • Faye March 9, 2016 / 7:53 pm

I’m gonna use that instead of loose in the loafers. Wombatty.

        • Emmberrann May 11, 2016 / 2:01 pm

Ooogh! That one hurt, Mike! But I do love wombats, they are the cutest (sorry, not sorry). I guess that makes me “wombatty,” too…

          • Emmberrann July 11, 2016 / 10:46 am

            Me 3. Wombatty.

        • Emmberrann December 7, 2016 / 1:40 pm

Me, too. Totes Wombatty. On Wednesdays. With or without pink.

      • debg March 9, 2016 / 3:09 pm

I’d come work with you at your critter sanctuary. That’s my dream too–a private zoo.

        • beemoused March 9, 2016 / 4:43 pm

I will place your name at the top of the list when I open.

    • Faye March 9, 2016 / 7:58 pm

Being retired is like an endless summer vacation. The only reason I need to know the day of the week is to keep an appointment.

Best of luck. It takes three to four months for you to not feel like you have to get to work!!

      • Haha March 9, 2016 / 9:32 pm

Yay Faye and Gigi! Congratulations on earning (and almost earning) the most glorious retirement titles!

Never thought much about wombats until NTMTOM and the other wombat fans on the site. Now I think they’re soooo cute, and yes, I also would love to cuddle one and rub his belly.
Does anyone know if they are willing to accept the attention, or do they react like my kitty, with claws at the ready and a look of indignation? Sighh. I’m so looking for a pet in need of a belly rub.

    • allein March 9, 2016 / 3:04 pm

My Chihuahua Pablo loved belly rubs, but he wouldn’t lay on his back for them. He would stand and arch up so you could get your hand under him instead.

    • debg March 9, 2016 / 3:08 pm

Go to the wombat sanctuary page on FB for all your wombat info. They seem to love people.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The wonderful series of Phryne Fisher mystery novels (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on Netflix) has a wombat hero in book 2. Sadly, the wombat didn’t make it into the TV version.

CO’s Wombat Wednesdays seriously made the whole week better. I would wake up in the morning going, “It’s Wednesday! It’s Wombat Wednesday!” Thanks to all for more wombats.

Got to hold a wombat when I was visiting Australia. She had been at this refuge for 10 years. They tried to mate her, but she would have none of it. She sat on my lap facing outwards, perfectly content to do so. Her fur felt like you’d expect it to, not too soft but not too bristley either. Adorable.

Aww, that sounds sweet. 🙂 Welcome to the site, and thanks for sharing that story.

Is it just me or have all the lower-case letter I’s disappeared?

  7. Arne March 9, 2016 / 6:55 pm

In this and other threads the lowercase i (the letter between h and j) is not visible so a sentence can look like this.

    “chnchllas and bunnes and kttes”

    It also breaks links.

Seems to affect only the comments.

Have tested with three different browsers.

  8. Smartypants March 9, 2016 / 7:25 pm

Now that is the face of contentment! (well, technically it’s the face of a wombat…)
