I’ll take the spotted one. The cute one. ?

    Proud mamma!!

    • ^oo^ March 23, 2016 / 11:15 pm

I know I’m coming in late, but my first response was “I’ve spotted the one I want!”

  2. allein March 23, 2016 / 8:53 am

    Mom looks so proud!

  3. birdcage March 23, 2016 / 8:59 am

Man alive, the cute is off the scale! That crowd is gonna be trouble in a couple of weeks! Reel in your shoelaces – there’s gonna be some chewin! I bet she’s a great momma.

Complete aside: I’ve created an amazing Easter treat. I “accidentally” dropped a miniature Cadbury cream egg on a piece of hot-from-the-toaster peanut-buttered toast. The egg got all melty and soft so I spread it around with my knife. Voila! Cadbury cream egg toast. Judge me not.

    • allein March 23, 2016 / 9:07 am

I would never judge. Except for the peanut butter, that sounds pretty good.

There’s a church I pass on my way to work, and currently their sign says “Easter is more than something to dye for.” I, not being a religious person, immediately thought, “of course it is…there’s creme eggs and peeps!”

On that note, Peeps s’mores are delicious. Graham cracker, Hershey’s special dark chocolate bar, a Peep (bunnies work best since they’re flat), topped with another graham cracker, and microwave for about 10 seconds to start (just watch your peep doesn’t explode). The sugar caramelizes just a bit and it’s all crunchy and chocolaty and yum.

Dont forget the time honored tradition of peep jousting!
        Let the games begin!

      • birdcage March 23, 2016 / 9:35 am

        Did someone say PEEP?

        • allein March 23, 2016 / 9:37 am

          Would that be considered cannibalism?

          • birdcage March 23, 2016 / 9:43 am

I suppose so! (Lest anyone think ill of me, rest assured the parrot was not allowed to continue to eat the peeps after the picture was snapped. But this is what happens when you turn your back for half a second at my house!)

            • allein March 23, 2016 / 9:49 am

I once woke up and caught my Pablo (the Chi in my picture) with a Hershey Kiss that had been left on the headboard. He had managed to unwrap it but hadn’t eaten any of it yet. It probably wasn’t enough to hurt him but at 6 pounds I wouldn’t want to take the risk.

We also once woke up to find him drinking from my then-boyfriend’s water glass that was also on the headboard. I wonder how many times he had done that before he got caught. He started keeping his glass on the nightstand after that.

Now there’s a Snorglethon I can get behind.

Anyone wanna try to guess how many pups there are? I can’t make out all the little bodies there.

    • allein March 23, 2016 / 9:37 am

      I count at least 14 or 15. I think.

      • Debg March 23, 2016 / 10:01 am

I got 13 but my counting skills are notoriously bad. Maybe there’s a sequel to 101 Dalmatians in the making?

        • BB/VA July 25, 2016 / 10:12 pm

I see Missis, but where’s Pongo? and the Dearlys and the Nannies?

    • Phred's Mom March 23, 2016 / 3:24 pm

Mama deserves a medal or several for this
      accomplishment. Fifteen! Yowie!

    • Murray Callahan March 23, 2016 / 9:46 pm

That was fun to see! The little girl who is getting one of the pups, “Patch”, is pretty adorable, too!

  5. Gigi the cat lady March 23, 2016 / 10:00 am

I so need a puppy cuddle today, the temp who occupy the cubical next to mine reaks of cheap perfume, I think she used the whole bottle this morning!

    • Debg March 23, 2016 / 10:02 am

      Plus the new puppy smell!

      • Gigi_the cat lady March 23, 2016 / 10:57 am

Puppy breath! I love that smell, is that wierd?

        • Phred's Mom March 23, 2016 / 2:35 pm

          And their Frito feet?
          -Lawzy, I miss Phred!

          • Faye March 23, 2016 / 5:03 pm

Oh the Frito feetsies smell. I truly miss that. If you have a burrowing chihuahua that smell builds up under the blankie. If you slowly lift the blankie you can get quite a Frito burst.

  6. LunaChickFringe March 23, 2016 / 10:50 am

If I blur my eyes a little they easily morph into a tub of Oreo cookie ice cream. Double bonus!

    • Murray March 23, 2016 / 12:56 pm

I saw a site recently where various animal photos were alongside the food they most resembled – it was pretty astonishing – sometimes you could barely tell. I lost track of it, I’m sad to report, and I’m not great at figuring out how yo find it again. Many of you seem ver sophisticated in the tech department, perhaps you might come across it and post. It’s pretty adorable and creative.

        • Faye March 23, 2016 / 1:45 pm

I love Chihuahua or muffin? For obvious reasons. I just saw Shibainu or marshmallow? the other day.

Now Parrot or Guacamole? just cracked me up. Where’s Birdcage?!

          • allein March 23, 2016 / 2:07 pm

I had seen a few of them, but shiba or marshmallow, parrot or guac and shrew or kiwi were new.

          • birdcage March 23, 2016 / 3:12 pm

Here I am. I had NOT SEEN that parrot or guac meme before!!!! Too funny! That’s going up on my facebook page right now.

            • Faye March 23, 2016 / 5:05 pm

So funny. Looks just like your Merlin.

        • Julie March 23, 2016 / 3:53 pm

Me Too!!! Whenever I eat a blueberry muffin, I hold it up to one of my dog’s faces for comparison.

          • allein March 23, 2016 / 4:26 pm

Sadly, I do not have a Chi with which to compare my blueberry muffins at this time.

            But I love this picture:

Oh, thank you. Wow, instant gratification!

          • allein March 23, 2016 / 5:03 pm

            I aim to please. 🙂

          • Murray March 23, 2016 / 5:05 pm

By the way, (here I get to openly display my ignorance) can someone explain to me what a “meme” is????? ( I blush)

            • allein March 23, 2016 / 5:07 pm

Original meaning (coined by Richard Dawkins): an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.
(analogous to a gene, since Dawkins is a biologist)

The new meaning: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc. that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

            • Faye March 23, 2016 / 5:10 pm

An Internet meme (/ˈmiːm/ meem) is an activity, concept, catchphrase or piece of media which spreads, often as mimicry, from person to person via the Internet.[1] Some notable examples include posting a photo of people lying down in public places (called “planking”) and uploading a short video of people dancing to the Harlem Shake.

A meme is “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture”.[2] An Internet meme may take the form of an image, hyperlink, video, website, or hashtag. It may be just a word or phrase, including an intentional misspelling. These small movements tend to spread from person to person via social networks, blogs, direct email, or news sources. They may relate to various existing Internet cultures or subcultures, often created or spread on various websites, or by Usenet boards and other such early-internet communications facilities. Fads and sensations tend to grow rapidly on the Internet, because the instant communication facilitates word-of-mouth transmission.

The word meme was coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, as an attempt to explain the way cultural information spreads;[3] Internet memes are a subset of this general meme concept specific to the culture and environment of the Internet. In 2013 Dawkins characterized an Internet meme as being a meme deliberately altered by human creativity—distinguished from biological genes and Dawkins’ pre-Internet concept of a meme which involved mutation by random change and spreading through accurate replication as in Darwinian selection.[4] Dawkins explained that Internet memes are thus a “hijacking of the original idea”, the very idea of a meme having mutated and evolved in this new direction.[5] Further, Internet memes carry an additional property that ordinary memes do not—Internet memes leave a footprint in the media through which they propagate (for example, social networks) that renders them traceable and analyzable.[6]

A meme is a picture with a funny caption added to it or it might have funny photoshopped elements.

Like a photoshop meme is “Sad Keanu”

            • Julie March 23, 2016 / 5:40 pm

This is an example of a “add a caption” meme:

Yes! Absolutely! Hmmm now I’m tempted.

Somewhere out there, a woman is craving a new coat. If we pool our money together we can get a nice corduroy one from Goodwill. Maybe with a matching vest.
