Ms. Cockatoo, Tear Down This Wall!

Reader Arne just introduced me to Harley the Cockatoo, a clever girl with an appetite for destruction. Her owner builds walls and towers of cups, and she delights in knocking them down. There’s more madness on Harley’s YouTube channel.

Ha! She looks so proud of herself!
Does it appear that Miss Harley is right-legged?

I used to want a tail, but now I think a crest would be more expressive and convenient. Harley is gorgeous and talented.

I love how the “hair” feathers go down once the job is done! Cup radar complete.

Exactly! Cracks me up that she uses those giant monkey-feet to knock them down, too. My crazy bird would charge these things beak-first.

Godzilla has nothing on Harley when it comes to destruction 🙂

When she entered the room, my first thought was “It’s Guinan, from Star Trek Next Generation!” LOVE the crest!

      She does look like Guinin!

I thought she entered like some Incan princess, proud and stately, and that the little towers were like minions whose order of destruction she selected very carefully.

Did she really say “I’m ready” as she strutted proudly into the room, crest upright and flowing in the (slight) breeze of her steps? What a gorgeous, confident beauty!

I am so enjoying everyone’s comments.

Someone needs to add little plastic people running for their lives.

Now if the owner could teach her how to put them all back together. That WOULD be delightful to watch. I bet she’s smart enough to be able to learn how to stack them back.

Yes, I’ve seen another video where she very purposefully uses her claws to pick up single cups and move them where she wants – she didn’t stack any, but I bet she could if she felt like it.

(Adding) – on her Youtube channel, it’s called “Here i come ?? i noticed towers”. She also has one called “Smarty Me” where she carries a cup and fetches herself a drink!

Sensing some enabling for destructive behavior here on the part of the owners.

I think it’s enabling playtime. I spend a good deal of time building things for my parrot to take apart or knock over or chew to shreds.

I’ve spent twenty minutes putting a coin up on a counter, so my cat can knock it off. Rinse, repeat.

Yes, very dramatic entrance from stage left.

My bird would have knocked it over with his beak for sure. None of these delicate footsie stuff in my house.
