You Must Boop, But Boop Wisely

The newest critter atย the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park presents a very boopable nose — but you best not miss. That’s because she’s a Prehensile-tailed Porcupine named Clover, and while her quills may be soft now, they’ll have a point to make when she’s older. Born on St. Patrick’s Day, lucky Clover is the second baby for the zoo’s couple, Mattie and Zoey, and a major success for their breeding program.

Can I snuggle her while she’s still soft?

I’m sorry, but I can’t spell the sound I just made in response to this cutie. I’m sure you know which sound I mean.

    • Jerzowa April 4, 2016 / 3:51 pm

I do! That’s the sound I’ve just made, too (in Polish, but that doesn’t really matter) ๐Ÿ™‚

Me, too (not in Polish, ho’ I claim Polish ancestry) It looks like that dear schnozzola was needle-felted!

  3. hilz April 4, 2016 / 3:25 pm

It’d be hard to miss that circular shnozz!

She reminds me of that poor kitty on CO who got stung on the nose by a bee.

      • Gigi_the cat lady April 4, 2016 / 5:53 pm

I didn’t find it on CO but if I remember correctly it’s this poor baby

        • Murray April 4, 2016 / 6:12 pm

Poor kitty! Looks like she could be Shrek’s cat.

        • allein April 4, 2016 / 7:04 pm

That’s the one! I could swear it was on CO but I can’t find it, either.

          • Haha April 4, 2016 / 8:30 pm

There is always Waffles who grabbed a bee from CO.

            • allein April 4, 2016 / 8:50 pm

Yes, I did find Waffles. I almost posted it and then I got distracted…

She has a supremely boop-able nosicle.

    • Smartypants April 4, 2016 / 3:28 pm

It’s specially designed for novice boopers! ๐Ÿ˜€

She’s too cute, I want to snorgle her!! Those bug eyes, the snozz that Jimmy Durante would be proud of, that floof of hair. Kinda reminds me of a troll doll, see the resemblance??

    • Faye April 4, 2016 / 4:07 pm

      Oh my gosh matchings!!

  6. Faye April 4, 2016 / 4:10 pm

How long do the prickles stay soft? Packs duffle for prescheduled Porcupine flight.

    Boooooooop.

    • Faye April 4, 2016 / 4:11 pm

I scrolled again. I am ded I tell you.

    • allein April 4, 2016 / 4:41 pm

I would think a baby-porcupine-petting quest would take precedence over a bunny-petting quest, softness being time-sensitive for the former.

      • Faye April 4, 2016 / 7:32 pm

        Oooo tempting, yes. Lol!

  7. tara April 4, 2016 / 6:03 pm

Yes yes boopable nose and all that…
    hernameisClover!
CLOVER!!!! that’s what got me. Not sure why.
    Clover….. gah! So cute.

    • SAA1451 April 4, 2016 / 10:08 pm

      Tara,
I agree. The nose is awesome and made to boop, but Clover put her over the top.
Reminded me of the skunk named Clover in Bambi.

      • Murray April 4, 2016 / 10:50 pm

I think the skunk’s name was Flower, but I had the made the same connection.

        • SAA1451 April 5, 2016 / 1:35 am

Oops – as soon as I saw it I knew you were correct! Apparently I am getting old and have a bad case of CRS. (That will teach me not to google before I type) Thank you for the help.

Still — Clover is just the best name for a porcupine baby ever and Little Clover above would make a great Disney character.

    – the dog..? You are named after the dog?!
    – gotta lot of fond memories of that dog.

  9. michael April 4, 2016 / 7:03 pm

Let’s remember that she’s beautiful on the inside too.

    • Faye April 4, 2016 / 7:34 pm

Yes, and no gloves required to commune with her bright little soul.

  10. sugitomo April 4, 2016 / 11:31 pm

She looks like she’s 98% nose!

  11. Starfish April 4, 2016 / 11:33 pm

A schnozz like that requires the next level of boopage: nose to nose!

  12. Lurkingduck April 5, 2016 / 12:33 am

Is kiss booping permitted? I so want to kiss that nose!
