A Cat-and-Froggie Game

With “Star Wars” back in the entertainment news again, I thought this would be a good time to recreate one of my favorite scenes from “The Empire Strikes Back.” Pursued by Imperial cruisers, its hyperdrive disabled, the Millennium Falcon is unable to escape…

When suddenly, it rushes headlong at the lead cruiser… and disappears!

Panic ensues on the bridge of the cruiser. A crewman exclaims to Captain Needa, “they’ve disappeared from all our scopes!”

And Captain Needa replies “They can’t have disappeared. No ship that small has a croaking device.

    *groan*

I have an inexplicable urge to see if I can find a froggy barrette for my hair…

    • Lurkingduck April 9, 2016 / 11:14 am

      I could make you one!

      • allein April 9, 2016 / 11:16 am

My mom does plastic canvas crafts and somewhere I’m sure I have a frog magnet. I could probably get her to make one with a barrette attached. ?

Whoa! I even got that one! What lengths you will go for a pun, NTMTOM, I am impressed and humbled in the presence of the master.

    • Emmberrann April 9, 2016 / 9:54 am

NTMTOM will go a pretty far piece for a pun. Like what we used to call a “shaggy dog story.” Except in this case, it’s a shaggy frog story. *snerk*

I love the smell of puns in the morning! (cue Wagner’s Valkyries)

A day without NTMTOM would be like a day without pun-shine.

This is totally one for the coffee table book. And what a gorgeous kitteh too!

I read the header and saw the first picture and was thinking of the old 80’s video game Frogger.

Geek point – croaking devices were on “Star Trek” not “Star Warts”

nerd point.-In Star Wars a cloaking device was mentioned in this one instance.

Looks like frog is trying to wrestle cat to the ground. Gotcha! Ribbit!

Teeny tiny wrinkled brow: Clingon for sure.

    • Smartypants April 9, 2016 / 11:41 am

Hehe – “Say uncle, darn it – I got you fair and square!”

      • Faye April 9, 2016 / 2:26 pm

        Cat: you talkin to me?

I got just the pictures for this earlier in the week – a draft? The finished product is great! Definitely one for the coffee table book.

    • allein April 9, 2016 / 12:12 pm

That’s right! I knew I’d seen these pictures before but I couldn’t remember where!

That earlier post was an error. I pressed the “Publish” button before I had written anything, and had to scramble to remove it from Facebook and Twitter. Of course, there’s no taking back the email.

It’s like a movie preview. After that, there’s the commercial where all the dancing snacks sing “Let’s go out to the lobby”…

    They’ve gone to plaid!

You just made my day! Now off to brave the rain.

      • Murray April 9, 2016 / 12:37 pm

It’s snowing like mad in the Philadelphia area.

        • allein April 9, 2016 / 12:41 pm

Really? It’s 40 with light rain here in central Jersey. Hope the snow isn’t planning to move this way!

          • BB/VA April 9, 2016 / 1:25 pm

41 degrees at the top of Virginia with some snow flurries. Thankfully, however, no frog flurries.

        • Lurkingduck April 10, 2016 / 12:24 am

Please send snow to Fraser Valley, BC. Dying of heat here.

  11. EAG46 April 9, 2016 / 7:39 pm

I wonder if the cat eventually caught the frog and ate it, or did its human save the frog from consumption and the cat from possible poisoning.

  12. Kar April 9, 2016 / 11:27 pm

I was half expecting someone to tell me that this is no cave.

    • mariana April 10, 2016 / 3:53 am

      “Apology accepted, Captain Needa.”

  13. Clairdelune April 9, 2016 / 11:57 pm

Am impressed by the resourcefulness of the froggie.
