Baby Talk

Ladies and gentlemen, we take you live to the press conference by the visiting Prime Minister of Babyland, Lady Ophelia Diaperwaddle, who will read a prepared speech, accompanied by a translator. A transcript will be available as soon as we can find someone to translate the translator.

[oh praise the lord, a new NTMTOM post! I was experiencing serious withdrawl since yesterday..]

I dare say doggie is not translating – bebeh and doggie are just discussing last nights episode of “The Guiding Leash”.. as one does

      I think you are correct.

Or, given the times, about who is best qualified to be elected Top Dog Catcher.

    Ahhh-waw-waw-waw-waw-waw-waw-waw.
Nice use of the horizontal subject matter filling the frame. ?

Are you sure the baby isn’t translating the dog?

Those of us who experienced the unexplained radio silence at CO may have been a leeetle nervous yesterday. All’ s well that ends well!

Sorry, everyone. I was really busy yesterday so I decided to focus on posts for today and the rest of the week.

Absolutely no need for an apology!!

      • allein April 11, 2016 / 10:37 am

I wasn’t worried. Sunday seems to be a slower day on a couple blogs I read. (All two of them. ?)

      • Smartypants April 11, 2016 / 10:49 am

Glad that all is well! Yes, I sort of expect things to slow down on the weekends.

That reminds me, I kind of liked the Saturday/Sunday open threads – would you consider bringing back one or both? It was fun to hear what the other NTMTOMmers were up to, or just what was for breakfast, random musings etc.

I could bring back open threads, sure. I got out of the practice when I noticed that many commenters were just talking about whatever they wanted without the need for a prompt — which is a very good thing, in my view.

I wondered how that was going down – sometimes I worried (well, not worried, exactly) about going off-topic but I figured you’d give us a high sign if that were a problem. You have created a community here and it’s rather nice to have these amusing conversations.

I don’t see a need to keep a message thread on topic — that is, related to the content of the post. I don’t want to have a lot of rules here, apart from readers should treat each other with respect, which happily seems to be the norm without much enforcement on my part.

                ?

This totally cracked me up: “…I noticed that many commenters were just talking about whatever they wanted without the need for a prompt…” *snerk* Yeah, we’re not shy that way! ?

Beautiful hypnotizing tail and floofy pantaloons! What a beautiful doggie!

    • allein April 11, 2016 / 10:38 am

      And bare bebeh feets!

  6. Gigi_the cat lady April 11, 2016 / 10:40 am

This is obviously a dog imitating a baby who is imitating a dog that is imitating a baby having a conversation with a dog.

    Simple, is it not?

  7. Smartypants April 11, 2016 / 10:52 am

My computer’s speakers are borked so I can’t hear the audio, but dog and baby just look so comfortable and content together! Very sweet.

?I dunno, I saw it as the dog complaining about this creature invading his home. But I love the idea of a translator – and Diaperwaddle!!!! HAH!

    • 6rabbits April 12, 2016 / 12:16 am

I, too, thought it seemed like the dog was complaining to the adults! When dog vocalized at baby it sorta looked like “Will ya give it a rest, kid? Sheesh.” You know that will become a classic in their family!?

      • Murray Callahan April 12, 2016 / 12:23 am

Yes! AT one point he goes in close to the baby then pulls away – “Just WHAT have you been eating! WHEW!”?

  9. Lurkingduck April 11, 2016 / 12:09 pm

Will the baby start talking in human or dog?

  10. AJ April 11, 2016 / 12:26 pm

Sometimes, I think the comments are just as funny, if not funnier (is that possible on this site??) than Mike’s brillance. Love this group of people.

    • allein April 11, 2016 / 12:33 pm

      I second that! ☺

    • Raymond April 11, 2016 / 2:28 pm

I wonder whether it would be possible for this site to have positive voting for people’s comments–like clicking the heart symbol on Twitter. So many of the comments deserve some show of thanks. Of course, this is not to take anything away from the source of inspiration of us all, NTMTOM.

I am constantly going for the up vote button that’s not there…

I *love* this video. It looks familiar, though—anyone else think so? Could it be an encore presentayshe from the old ranch?

  12. Kar April 12, 2016 / 2:19 am

Ummm. Why was there a human foot/leg in the foreground?

    • Murray April 12, 2016 / 8:07 pm

I think it was the dad/photographer, whom you can hear talking to his wife.
