Readers Mariana P. and Andrew Y. wrote to tell me that April 7 was International Beaver Day! Besides being cute, beavers play an important role in their environment. The dams they build store water and create wetlands. You can learn more at Beavers: Wetlands and Wildlife, and see more cute beavers at Bored Panda.
I’ll put this on my calendar so I don’t miss it next year.
Gee they look perpetually happy. I guess it’s because they don’t have to fill out depreciation reports.
Or fill out income tax forms.
ExACTly!
High boopability factor. ♥️ On the rocks, you say? Can I have mine neat? (or messy – these guys are darned cute)
The first one – “Look, I’m a quokka!”
That is exactly what I thought! A very quokka smile. 🙂
I want to gently squeeze that fat baby beaver!
That first beaver is so cute!!!!!
Weeeee!! Beavers! They’re so cute. They do look a lot like quokkas
The Quokkability is amazing.
Yes, boop boopdrips boopdrops boopsquish.
I guess Wally Cleaver is a little sore that he doesn’t rate a day. Maybe June and Ward can put in a word for him.
Cleaver Day. Sounds like the title of a horror movie. Yikes.
Not Cleaver Day. Wally World!
Beaver gets a day, but June gets a whole month.
And Ward gets to play with Batman. 🙂
I’ll just leave this here:
O-blivious.
NOOOooooo
Puts hands over eyes and says loudly, “Lalalalalalala”
Back in my pre and young teen days I had a crush on the tv show Robin. Batman was cool, but Robin….
🙂
My sister had a crush on Robin around 10 yrs. old. I didn’t get it. We saw it in syndication after school. Lasted until we got Star Trek in its place, and then she started a loooooong crush on Spock. This I understood!?
Spock was cool but Sulu shirtless with his sword … hummm yummy!
I was totally into Julie Newmar as Cat Woman pointy bra and all. Then it took me another 20 years to figure it out!! Wink wink nudge nudge.
Well, OK, you move slow. You mustn’t let it take 20 years for your bunny petting quest!!!
And Cat Woman…
Me-oweeeew
Bunny quest has hit a dam. Hmmm beavers?
Will update!
???(in response to Duckie for her comment about June.)
oooohh, I see what you did there. 😀
I wish I had a large tupperware with a small beaver in it.
Every new set of Tupperware should just automatically include a free baby beaver.
Hear hear!
I would buy sooooo much Tupperware if that were true!
Any former CO fans recall the pic of a bebeh beaver dressed up in a bumble bee costume? It was a dam cute photo. I would post it here if I knew how to do it. Even NTMTOM may remember seeing it. I think there also was one of a bebeh in a wadding pool. They do sort of resemble bigger versions of Quokkas.
I found this one, I don’t remember if it’s the same one
My bunnies won’t tolerate dressing up so how did they get a beaver in that cute costume?!
That’s the same beaver, Gigi. Here’s a link to the post: http://cuteoverload.com/2014/10/29/a-bee-ver-damn/
Don’t Beavers always look like they have something to say? Excuse me sir, do you have a small bit of wood shavings? IDK.
Hehe, that’s so true – they do always look like they want to join the conversation.
Yes, GiGi, that’s the one. I couldn’t quit saying “awww, how adorable ” when I first saw it. Thanks for finding it.
OK, they are just too cute! I’ll take all of them! 🙂
There’s a beaver on the lake where I go kayaking. I’ve had some close encounters. Fascinating but a bit scary! Beavers: cute but disinclined towards friendly interactions with random kayakers who get too close to the den. And a full-size beaver is a big creature!
Frankly my dear, I don’t give a…oh wait…
Today is definitely Golden Pun day. 😀
Maybe it’s just me, but the 3 in the second pic look like they belong in the Shire!
Bebeh beavers ARE very cute, but adult beavers are big enough for me to give them a wide berth (I used to live near a river walk.) The adults sort of high-tail it out of there if a human is near–very quick they are.
Is the beaver named Janet?
“Any of you guys know how to Madison?”
The river was deep but I swam it!
