Read for a School in Need

Hey, peeps, I need a favor. My youngest niece is participating in a “read-a-thon” to raise money to replace aging playground equipment at her school. She promises to read every day for ten days, which should leave her tuckered out by day ten. If you’d like to chip in a few bucks, you can donate here. Thank you!

Okay, whoever got the bright idea to have kids read for donations instead of selling all that crap was a GENIUS. Most school fundraisers make me cringe; this is the type I’m 100% happy to support. And I note that the young lady is in the same community as I am. NTMTOM, are you here, too? That would be a definite Small World moment.

Why do cats always look like they are having the best, most relaxing sleep of all time when they go nappy nite-nite?Why cant they share their secret?

I hope Marguerite finds THE book like I did when I was her age. The book that will change reading from something you HAVE to do, to something you LOVE to do!

Amen to that! What a great fundraiser.

Oh yes Gigi, that is the experience that every child should have, I hope Marguerite finds HER special book. Gigi, which one was your book? Mine was Peter Pan.

It was Le ranch des trois fanions (Spin and Marty) it’s about an unhappy boy who is sent to a ranch for a vacation. The nuns would march us to the library every Friday and we had to take out a least one book but I never read it until that one, it had a horse on it so I got curious.

After that book I couldn’t get enough, I’d take out the maximum books allowed (3) but they wouldn’t last me the week. I even got in trouble because I would read in class instead of listening to the teacher LOL!

What a wonderfully fuzzy and relaxed Kitty! Love the back paw clinging to the book.
Looking at this happy cat, “sleeping on the job” seems a very wise thing to do – maybe Mr/Ms. Cat (no way to tell with those cataloons) is just soaking up some book “larnin’.

What a great idea, and Marguerite is lucky to have you helping get the word out. Perfect choice of picture.

Kitteh says “Which book shall I read? Hmm, let me sleep on it!”

I love the idea of having kids reading instead of selling stuff!

We did one of these when I was in grade school. I still feel bad for the teacher in my school who pledged me a per book amount ($1.50)…I read 37 books during the time we had (probably a month).
