My Terrifying Encounter with Alien Beings from Another Planet, by Lurlene Tubbs

“I’m telling it to you just like I told them reporters and policemen, and they didn’t believe me and I expect you won’t neither but hand to God I swear it’s the gospel truth. There was six of ’em, and they all come out of this hole in the ground which I assume is where they done hid their spaceship. And they was real curious about me, and did everything I did. If I took a step, they took a step. I raised my tail, they raised their tails. And it was right then that I realized, themย was no mere cats.”

I love how they all have their tails sticking straight up.

    Poor Lurlene – must’ve been a hair-raising experience!

    They’re POD CATS! They’re here already! You’re next! You’re next, You’re next…!

“Mere cats” Only you Mike. Only you.

I know that this isn’t cute overload, but those straight up tails so deserve a Matchink!!!

Don’t be fooled, Kar! Those aren’t tails, they are powerful antennas/communication devices with the Meerkat Mother Ship. Probably discussing whether the Earthling facing them is intelligent or just food.

Does anyone know what meerkats feets feel like? Are they soft fur? Do they have scratching nails, or gentle nails? Are they aggressive little creatures, or good shoulder pets?

Duckie try to find Meerkat Manor. It was a documentary about two real Meerkat families.
And I can tell you Meerkats are busy, tense little creatures.

I watched many episodes of Meerkat Manor.

In my opinion they would not be good pets. In the vast expanse of the Internet, I have never seen anyone with a pet meerkat and there is probably a good reason for that. A lot of people have tigers as pets, but not meerkats. I think that says something! ๐Ÿ™‚

There’s a meerkat sanctuary in Morongo, CA that I have on my bucket list to visit.

I miss Meerkat Manor!? I was so involved in their little lives!
Since they dig dens, they have very sharp, strong nails. Their fur always looked scruffy/rough so I don’t think they’d be good for snorgling–maybe a juvenile would be softer?
NO wild animal makes a good pet. To domesticate an animal takes umpteen generations. Being a social/pack animal, Meerkats would miserable and neurotic without their family structure.

Me thinks Meerkat Manor broke everyone in for Game Of Thrones. So much intrigue inside such tiny creatures.

Don’t watch GOT but I know it can’t be as cute as meerkats!

          • Faye May 4, 2016 / 9:16 am

I don’t watch either. Of course the Meerkats were/are cuter. It was the Meerkat Machiavellian Maneuvers that made me compare to GOT. Astonishing what complicated lives they lead.

            • 6rabbits May 6, 2016 / 7:08 pm

Okay, that reason for comparison makes much more sense!?

I was v v lucky to go to South Africa a few years ago and play with the meerkats of Meerkat Manor. I had meerkats standing on my head and even got to snuggle meerkat pups, which was the best feeling ever! But meerkats aren’t too friendly. Sharp teeth and claws, and pretty impatient. Their fur is relatively coarse, like a dog’s maybe? I’ve also played with cheetahs and lions (not to make you jealous or anything)

Jelly? Not us! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing that great picture, and welcome to the site!

      • Faye May 4, 2016 / 9:17 am

Ooo thank you for the description. That. Looks. Like. So. Much. Fun.

      • 6rabbits May 6, 2016 / 7:09 pm

        Of COURSE we’re jealous!?

  8. Mariana Paes May 3, 2016 / 6:25 pm

And now I’m picturing an entire conversation between the cat and one of the meerkats:
Cat (points to self): me. cat.
Meerkat: no you are not. (points to self) meerkat!
    And so on..

    • Haha May 3, 2016 / 9:53 pm

You made me snort. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

How has some curious soul not tried to arrange such a meeting sooner? Genius.

  10. birdcage May 4, 2016 / 9:41 am

With the dark eye shadow and such on the meerkats, I’m wondering if a renaming is in order: sand pandas, anyone?

    • Mariana Paes May 4, 2016 / 10:33 am

      hihihi
