Got Off at the Wrong Dam Stop!

Commuters in Washington D.C. met an unusual character recently: a baby beaver, scared and shy, wandering around a Metro subway station. According to WTOP, police and animal welfare workers responded, and the beaver was checked out, found to be in good health, and transferred to a stop in a woodsierย part of town.

The poor little thing! I hope there was a kind mama beaver there at his new stop to take care of him–he really looks to small to be on his own. Kudos to the good people who rescued him from commuter insanity!

On an off topic note, but I figured you folks would understand…

On my way to work this morning I saw, face-down in the road, a small stuffed bunny, and it gave me a sad. ๐Ÿ™

      awww….

I get it.. I’m still not over losing my blankey when I was a child

I hope some kid isn’t crying over it somewhere. It looked a bit dirty in that well-loved kinda way (it wasn’t all squished so I don’t think it was run over or had been there very long).

And the bunny was still there on my way home. ๐Ÿ™

He’s in the yellow striped section before the left turn lane starts, so I guess it’s less likely he’ll actually get run over there.

I’m teary. Poor little thing was terrified. I just wanted to scoop it up and soothe it. So glad he/she was rescued and returned to a natural environment. How in the world did it get there? I hope there were no nasty human shenanigans involved.

That metro stop is only a few blocks away from Rock Creek Park which is relatively large and full of wildlife – including beavers.

Welcome, new commenter! Always nice to see a new face. It’s good to know the baby may not have been too far from home.

There are lots of areas near and around metro stations that are great for beavers, I bet this little one went on an adventure and just got lost.
And, that kids shoes were kewl.

I concur about the shoes. Good luck, little guy!

Poor baby! I hope the baby found a mom or a caretaker to shortly after this video was taken. ๐Ÿ™
