Cat Testing Procedure

Cats often spend hours sleeping. During especially long naps, there may be a complete lack of movement, and it may appear that the cat is in fact dead. If you are not sure whether your cat is dead or merely sleeping, press the Test button, located in the center of the cranial command module, and the cat will respond by wiggling its indicator paws.

“whether your cat is dead or merely sleeping” That reminds me of the time we had to rush one of our cat to the vet hospital because he ate a poisonous plant. He was very sick and they rushed him to the emergency and the vet said they would do everything they could but there was no guarantee and she would call the next day.
When she called, she was giggling so I knew Fatso was OK and I asked her what was so funny. She said she went to check on him first thing when she arrived and he was lying on his back in the cage with his legs strait up and his tongue hanging out and she thought “Darn he’s dead” She poked him with her finger and he meowed. Then it was my turn to giggle and I told her, “Doc that’s the way he always sleeps”.

Blepping is cool. Glad your baby was okay.

And I was thinking it was going to be a catscan!

Your text Mike reminded me of the Sparky when he was a young cat. He would sleep so soundly that you could pick him up or move him around. That was until the Nisqually Earthquake in 2001. After that he never slept that soundly.

I used to make one of my kittens dance while he was sleeping. He never even noticed.

That’s OK, Margaret, I haven’t slept very soundly since that one either. 😛 One of our since-departed kitties was sleeping up high on a cabinet at the time and I’m pretty sure he was thrown off, rather than jumping. All I know is he never slept up there again. Poor baby- it was one of his favorite nap spots, too.

This testing method is way less costly than the one my friend had to use. Her cat would sleep through any stimulus, except for shaking the treat bag. Then she would spring to attention.
Obviously, kitty would have to get a treat after that.

And if the movement is accompanied by your losing your finger, that’ll teach you to boop carnivores with sharp claws on the nose when they are sleeping.

      ?

I would be kissing that nose instead of just booping. Kitty noses are the best ever.
