  4. hilz May 17, 2016 / 1:47 pm

I wish I loved anything as much as pandas love falling down <3

  5. allein May 17, 2016 / 1:53 pm

Those are the biggest roly-poly bugs I’ve ever seen!

  6. Smartypants May 17, 2016 / 2:13 pm

“Eat shoots and…leaves” – well done Mike!

    This is sooooooo funny!!!

I wish I knew what the woman was saying to the Pandas.

    • Gigi the cat lady May 17, 2016 / 2:48 pm

I think it’s probably something like:
      Get out of there!
      Leave that alone!
      Go away
      I said leave it!
      No no no!

      • Julie May 17, 2016 / 2:57 pm

        Gigi – I didn’t know you spoke Mandarin! πŸ™‚

        • Gigi_the cat lady May 17, 2016 / 3:16 pm

I don’t but I remember what I was saying when I had three baby cats in the house at the same time climbing the drapes and knocking the plants over and generally creating mayhem. πŸ˜€

      • sugitomo May 17, 2016 / 7:58 pm

Something similar. I “Mandarin” is either the Sichuanese dialect, or at least heavily accented and using phrases from the Sichuan dialect. I couldn’t make out everything, but recognized a few words and phrases such as “get away..”, “oh, you two…” “hurry move….”

        • Julie May 18, 2016 / 12:29 pm

          Thanks! πŸ™‚

I also love how the photographer is not helping her at all.

    • JenDeyan May 17, 2016 / 3:07 pm

I imagine the photographer was too busy keeping his/her chuckles from shaking the camera.

  9. Gigi the cat lady May 17, 2016 / 2:45 pm

Those two are having the time of their life, the poor woman not so much. I laughed so hard my sides hurt!

    • Deborah Gerish May 17, 2016 / 2:54 pm

I would happily take over for her if she needs a break from panda wrassling.

    • Julie May 17, 2016 / 2:59 pm

I know. This is so funny.

    • Kar May 18, 2016 / 12:22 am

I cannot tell you how little sympathy I have for that woman who gets to roll around with baby pandas, And gets paid for it!!

  10. Brouhaha May 17, 2016 / 3:08 pm

    Like herding cats.

    • Phred's Mom May 18, 2016 / 8:44 am

Speaking of cats, did anyone notice the
Maru-osity of these guys, wanting to be
      in the box/basket?

I’d love to volunteer my services as this lady’s assistant but it would mean one hell of a commute.

Do you think the Chinese Panda Sanctuary sets up these situations to be comical for the guests? Surely there are times to rake up the leaves when the panda cubs are not on display – like after hours or during nap time. They give the poor woman the most ridiculous panda-cub-sized top-heavy basket and kick her out into the exhibit at exactly the time when the crowds are there and the cubs are at their most playful ….

    • Deborah Gerish May 17, 2016 / 4:06 pm

Yes, I think these are planned scenarios to amuse visitors. More, please!

    • Julie May 17, 2016 / 4:10 pm

If she’s acting then she is the Meryl Streep of Panda Housekeepers

    • Claire May 17, 2016 / 4:17 pm

I was thinking maybe it’s the first task they give the new intern on her first day as a sort of fluffy hazing.

      • Julie May 17, 2016 / 4:22 pm

        Oh yes! Panda hazing!

      • Duckie May 17, 2016 / 4:25 pm

        Fluffy hazing! Love it!

      • Phred's Mom May 18, 2016 / 8:46 am

Where do I sign up for initiation?

      • Sumo-Mermaid May 18, 2016 / 5:22 pm

It looked a bit like she was praying close to the end of the clip – either “let me never have to do this again,” or “please, let this be my permanent gig.”

    • Shan May 17, 2016 / 5:38 pm

Nooo! Let me have my fantasy that this is all a random occurrence!

  13. AJ May 17, 2016 / 4:33 pm

Oh god, can’t breathe, I’m laughing so hard. Reminds me of a mom trying to clean house with twin toddlers. Best part is when she pulls off one of the pands and carries him away UPSIDE DOWN!

    • Julie May 17, 2016 / 6:53 pm

There is so much to love about this video.

  14. Shan May 17, 2016 / 5:35 pm

I want a pesky panda to pander to!

  15. Flowerfanatic May 17, 2016 / 5:39 pm

It definitely looked like a comedy sketch!! Unrehearsed, of course.

  16. sugitomo May 17, 2016 / 7:54 pm

Who could possibly get mad at them? I would love every exasperating moment of trying keep these two fuzzy-butts in check.

  17. Faye May 17, 2016 / 8:52 pm

I want to think this is her first day on the job. If you get past the two panda racking leaves test they hire you for life!!

  18. ^oo^ May 17, 2016 / 11:31 pm

Pandas escape from zoo hidden in baskets of leaves!

  19. George Michael Sherry May 18, 2016 / 4:18 am

Maru has nothing on those pandas when it comes to wanting to crawl inside containers they can barely fit inside.

Before I watched the video, I was going to say that being a panda keeper must be like being the adult attendant or teacher of a medieval child prince or king — you aren’t allowed to do anything to them, and they know it and take advantage of it, because they are a precious national resource and you are merely a commoner. However, that lady pulled those pandas around more than I expected. I think the frustration got the better of her.

Fascinating question at to whether this is done intentionally for audience amusement (and I agree with the Meryl Streep remark), or if it’s first-day-on-the-job hazing (“Tell her to get the leaves out of the panda enclosure and DON’T tell her she can just wait and do it when they aren’t on exhibit!”) or if it’s just an unavoidable part of the routine.

But pandas definitely just do want to have fun. They want to play SO bad. “Stop that silly work and play with us. Stop trying to take away our leaf toys. Why do you put them all in that basket if we can’t then jump in the basket?”

  20. 6rabbits May 18, 2016 / 10:40 pm

Those pandas are TOTALLY taking advantage of that woman…and having the time of their lives!πŸ˜‚ I think Faye’s panda job test idea has got to be trueπŸ˜‰
