Plow Wow Wow

Ya, I am Sven. I farm der pertaytos. Like my father and his father and his father before him. Is good land fer pertaytos. Noothing else grow but pertaytos. We make many foods from pertaytos. We make der pertayto pancakes, pertayto muffins, pertayto fruit salad. We make clothing from pertaytos, we sleep on pertaytos, I remodel guest bedroom with pertaytos. Frankly, I am sick of der pertaytos. Every night I drink vodka to forget pertaytos. But vodka is made from der pertaytos.

It’s Victoria Day (or Patriot Day as we call it here in Québec) a holiday in Canada and a long weekend, so no work today I’m going to do what Sven is doing and do a little gardening but flowers not pertaytos 😀

I had a long weekend (took a personal day on Friday) and next Monday is Memorial Day so another long weekend. Unfortunately I have to get through a full week in between.

I’m in a similar boat, Allein. But on my weekends, I’m now destructing my kitchen to get ready for a refurbishment! Pulling out cabinets built inside the kitchen in 1949–oh my aching back.

Fun! I wish I could replace my cabinets, but that’s not happening any time soon.

I redid my kitchen/entry floor last year. When I moved in it had a layer of linoleum and then two layers of peel-and-stick tile on top of that. Except the area just inside the front door had three layers…you could see the ridge it made under the top layer. My dad left the layer of linoleum, since it was one flat sheet, but we put in laminate flooring. (The kitchen also had three layers of wallpaper when I bought the place. That got replaced with paint before I actually moved in.) My bathroom also had multiple layers of peel-and-stick tile, but we redid that with real tile in the first year I was there. The rest of the place is carpeted; if I ever replace that, I’m half afraid to find out what might be under it.

That’s what happens when you start ripping up flooring! I’ve got solid oak, then a vapor barrier, then 1/4″ plywood stapled all over the sheet, then lino/vinyl so old it cracks when it starts to come up.

            Demo work is really therapeutic.

For some reason I was expecting a picture of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets, lol. But this guy is way cuter.

Did you have your vodka yet? That made me laugh out loud, and there’s nobody else here!

        • allein May 23, 2016 / 9:57 am

I wish. Unfortunately, my workplace frowns on that. I’ll have to settle for tea (with white sugar, because I forgot my sugar in the raw to refill my sugar jar ?).

Egad, woman, first the new mug now the sugar – go ahead, steal some from the cafeteria, I give you permission!?

Man, I do love educated people – thanks, Allein.

That 20-year-old (well, 19) English degree comes in handy sometimes. ?

I was, too. Although the expression on the dog’s face is doing a really good imitation…

Thank you Skimpy, and welcome! (To make a smiley, just type a colon and then a closed parenthesis right after it.)
