A Dance to Summer

In this dance I raise my arms to the blazing hot sun in its chariot in the sky,

Warming the precious Mother Earth upon which we stand.

As the asphalt heats, our dance becomes erratic and crazy things happen.

Ice caps melt! Sea levels rise! Nile crocodiles invade Florida! We’re all going to catch Ebola Zika! We hand the nuclear launch codes to a reality-TV huckster! And the Bathroom Police need to know what’s under that dress, buddy!

Somebody crank the A/C, it’s too darn hot.

I’m giggling and despairing for humanity at the same time…

For the coffee table book for sure! Pictures, captions, hover text -all amazing. Plus you’ve given me the one sentence statement on why the Trump phenomenon is so depressing and terrifying – handing the nuclear launch codes to a reality-tv huckster.

I keep thinking NTMTOM just can’t get any better. And then he does. This was brilliant!!!

«handing the nuclear launch codes to a reality-tv huckster» I’ll be using that phrase for sure and I don’t think even John Oliver could have put it better!

Yep, one of your best, NTMTOM! I’m with Mikeyfur, you just get better.

More Kitty Cat Dance lyrics!! Can you post that one in case people haven’t seen it yet? One of my life goals is to make the whole world population aware of that video. 😉

Hilz, Consider yourself one Mikeyfur closer to your goal. Now NTMTOM’s post is even more fun!

“One Grecian urn!” (Obscure reference to a scene from “The Music Man” where some matrons of River City are performing an artistic tableau!)

    • birdcage May 24, 2016 / 2:43 pm

Not so obscure for me: I played the part of the Mayor’s wife, Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn, in our high school production of The Music Man. I got to utter the “One Grecian Urn” line. “And a fountain! Trickle, trickle, trickle!!!”

      • amyliz May 24, 2016 / 2:57 pm

Oh yes, I’d forgotten the fountain! LOL! Very funny scene!

      • Murray C. May 27, 2016 / 12:18 pm

So did I! In Community theater. I loved the line Mayor Shinn: “Not one poop out of you, Madame”. Eulalie: “I think he means peep.” We had to hold positions for a
Lo-o-ong time, people laughed so much.

      • Murray C. May 27, 2016 / 12:19 pm

        ?

    • Sumo-Mermaid May 24, 2016 / 2:58 pm

Absolutely looove that scene! Quote it often when striking a pose.

      • Haha May 24, 2016 / 6:31 pm

        Two Grecian urn.
I two am an obsessive quoter of this whenever a pose is struck.

I am pretty sure Jules Feiffer (and his animal-loving daughter) would adore this! Such a beautiful kitty!

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike May 24, 2016 / 9:59 pm

Welcome and thank you, Carlotta! I’ve admired Feiffer’s work forever, and I’ve wanted to do a post like this for years, I just needed to get the right set of photos.

That other cat is just so over this all.

I love this post, NTMTOM – I longed to see what you would do with it when I sent it in and it’s beyond my wildest imaginings, absolutely gut-bustlingly, fall-on-the-floor SCREAMING laughing, eruptions of giggles when it crosses the mind later. (Same with the Der Pertayter one – I was in England at a country house and the wifi was pretty much nonexistent, so I have over 1500 emails to catch up on)
