Live from the Squeakness Stakes!

… and rounding the far turn, heading into the home stretch, it’s Twitchy Whiskers out front with Cashew Later on the outside, followed by Up Against the Walnut, Almond Joystick, Chastened By the Cat, Bushy Butt, Squirreled Peace, and in last place by two lengths, whatever horse you bet on, sucker.

    I. Am. Not. Going. To. Spoil. The. Hover. For. Anyone.

Hilarious to see squirrlios on itty bitty horses. Then that hover kilt me ded. I’m dying here.

I started giggling at Cashew Later and Squirrelled Peace made me snort ginger ale out my nose but the hover finished me!

    • AJ June 3, 2016 / 2:54 pm

Oh dear god, I didn’t get it at first but when I realized what it reallly meant, let’s just say tears running down the face funny. And every time I think about it, it starts all over again. That’s gonna keep me amused all afternoon. Classic, I don’t know if NTMTOM can ever top it.

    • allein June 3, 2016 / 3:02 pm

Sad to say, I just got Cashew Later.

    • Kar June 3, 2016 / 6:04 pm

I lost it as Squirreled Peace. How does he come up with these names?

  3. allein June 3, 2016 / 1:00 pm

Can’t decide between Almond Joystick and Squirreled Peace.

  4. Murray C. June 3, 2016 / 1:04 pm

I picture NYM coming up with these things and giggling maniacally. He’s his own secret weapon.

  5. Duckie June 3, 2016 / 1:19 pm

The sound I made at the hover text can’t be spelled, but I sure enjoyed the cause.

  6. Ms Can Opener June 3, 2016 / 1:46 pm

…. and of course when I saw this, my first thought was “I got the horse right here. His name is Paul Revere.” An ear worm which ntmtom loaded in my brain months ago and which rears its ugly head when a horse walks in the picture.

    • Murray C. June 3, 2016 / 1:59 pm

Oh, you just HAD to, didn’t you?????

      • Phred's Mom June 3, 2016 / 2:15 pm

        Now we’re stuck with it.

  7. Laura June 3, 2016 / 3:33 pm

Okay, am I old and slow or what? Can someone, without revealing what the hover actually IS, explain what’s so especially funny about it? Because I just don’t get it. 🙁 I mean, other than it’s in line with the rest of the silliness.

In horse racing lingo, “scratched” means to be removed from the race. But it’s not my best work, so don’t feel badly. 🙂

      • AJ June 3, 2016 / 4:05 pm

Oh, no, no, no. Au contraire, Monsieur NTMTOM, your hover is a classic, I think it’s your best work yet. (read in Maruice Chevalier voice). I’m still giggling about it.

        • fkaWaldenPond June 3, 2016 / 7:19 pm

I exhaled sharply, followed by an audible giggle re the hovertext. It made my following afternoon work hour that much more ‘light in mood.’ Kinda reminds me of this classic… (maturity is all relative, right???!!!)

          • Murray C. June 3, 2016 / 7:50 pm

            ALWAYS been a favorite!

            • fkaWaldenPond June 3, 2016 / 7:58 pm

As a summer job one year during university I worked on a golf course cutting greens which allowed me to get home during the early afternoon on the weekends. I would snooze half- listening with Pee Wee’s Playhouse on the tv playing and inevitably just as I was about to fully drift off to sleep some similar line, inappropriate innuendo for the ‘intended’ age group would be played out and I would raise my head ‘Whaattttt??*%** the???!’ and slump back down giggling away shaking my head, smirking into slumber.

      • Duckie June 4, 2016 / 12:31 am

I got a double understanding from the hover.

  8. Kar June 3, 2016 / 6:10 pm

Because everything reminds me of something else….

    • Murray C. June 3, 2016 / 7:21 pm

This is FABULOUS! I am filled with an inexpressible joy and hope for mankind. ?

      • Faye June 3, 2016 / 8:23 pm

NYC brilliance. Kid never batted an eye.

    • dubravkamcvmd June 3, 2016 / 10:06 pm

      Life is good

I loved the video — but I was surprised — maybe appalled? — that kids have to wear a “seatbelt” or harness or whatever to ride a carousel nowadays. That’s a new one on me. They don’t seem to mind. I guess they don’t know what freedom is like, anymore.

      • Kar June 4, 2016 / 7:39 pm

Highly suspect that there was a lawsuit prompting this.

        • 6rabbits June 4, 2016 / 11:14 pm

          Of course there was!

  9. Tigrenska Jourard June 3, 2016 / 7:17 pm

Bonus points if you get this reference: “Safety Pin has been scratched.” In loving memory of my Dad, who introduced me to many many many classics of yesteryear.

    • Murray C. June 3, 2016 / 7:22 pm

Do tell – I plead ignorance, tho’ there’s something familiar. Am I going to bonk myself in the head when I hear the answer???

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike June 3, 2016 / 7:35 pm

Now you’ve gone and done it:

      • Murray C. June 3, 2016 / 7:40 pm

        I am bonking my head.?

      • George Michael Sherry June 4, 2016 / 4:28 am

I’m extremely impressed someone remembered a Spike Jones lyric anymore. I know who he was and roughly what he did, but I never heard any of his actual recordings. Great memory, Tigrenska. (I hope I spelled the name right.)

        • Murray C. June 4, 2016 / 10:09 am

I am in a social milieu that not only remembers but continues to listen to the music of Spike Jones and oh, so many others from bygone eras. We are members of the “They Don’t Write ‘Em Like They Used To” Brigade. ?

  10. Lo June 3, 2016 / 9:11 pm

LOL worth the wait NTMTOM!!!!!! And here I’d thought my submish just didn’t pass muster – or mustard – or something….

    • Haha June 3, 2016 / 10:34 pm

Yummy hotdogs with mustard. Mmmmmmmm. Worth the wait.

    • Lo June 4, 2016 / 12:00 pm

Forgot to explain that Lo = Oogy. Thanks for your hilarious creative brilliance NTMTOM! And I’m so happy you found the perfect punny tale for the sqerl jockeys.

      • Murray C. June 4, 2016 / 8:35 pm

Lo (rats, can’t find the damned equal sign) Oogy? I must’ve been absent the day they taught that one in math class.

  11. SoccerSue June 4, 2016 / 1:09 am

When I saw the picture, I was glad I wasn’t drinking alcohol. When I read the hover text, I was glad I wasn’t drinking anything. New tablets are expensive. 😛

  12. George Michael Sherry June 4, 2016 / 4:29 am

NTMTOM, I add my congratulations on your ability to think up squirrel-related racehorse names that also had additional comic potential. Someone should hire you to invent the actual racehorse names; it sometimes seems they are running on fumes for ideas.
