    It’s the Maytag retriever!

    • allein June 20, 2016 / 4:15 pm

Maytag totally needs to give the Repairman a dog.

That’s not quite the way it works. We wouldn’t want a wet and confused pup, now, would we? What actually happens is the very nattily dressed man comes round, sees the dry puppy, knows the dishes are dirty and lures the puppy away – most likely with a treat. And this personage is none other than the Deter Gent.

Oh, whew. I was afraid that the result of this screed would be the groan heard ’round the world.?

        • Laura June 20, 2016 / 4:52 pm

What? You didn’t hear my groan? Seriously, that’s the worst pun I’ve seen in simply ages! Well done — that’s the way to inflict pleasurable pain!

I think that one was worthy of 260 Oakley…

          • Phred's Mom June 20, 2016 / 6:39 pm

            Maybe Murray IS Oakley.
Murray, you did go to Pun
            State, no?

            • Phred's Mom June 20, 2016 / 6:41 pm

260 Oakley is an address in Happy Valley,
              I believe.

I know a song – ” It’s Homecoming Time in Happy Valley”, so maybe I AM Oakley. ………..nah, no such luck. We have Oakleys in our family, on my sister-in-law’s husband’s side, but that doesn’t really count. Maybe I had an ancestor who fought in the “Pun-ic” wars, but, no, I did not attend Pun State. I am an “Outsider” punster.

I read it as Deeter Gent. As in teeter. It took me a few beats to get to de ter gent. Awesome!!

            ?

          • fkaWaldenPond June 21, 2016 / 10:18 am

Faye, I read it with German accent/ pronunciation too; gave the joke a certain continental flair.

I like it. Whatever blows your skirts up, I always say.? (think Marilyn)

Not to detract from your wonderful story, Mike, but is it possible that puppy is content because HE licked the dishes clean? Best of both worlds?

  4. 4leafclover June 21, 2016 / 1:50 am

Nature abhors a vacuum, but sure does love a dishwasher.

    • Murray C. June 21, 2016 / 9:54 am

My husband always sings to me “Your Friend, the Dishwasher” to the tune of “I told the Witch Doctor”. LOVE having a dishwasher. This one is my first and it’s now a8 years old. Perhaps a party is in order……….
