I just want to scritch right alone that line.

Due to spotty coverage, answers to name “Your Cell Phone Plan.”

So he only works in my parents driveway and not in the house, then?

(Seriously; I used to have to go out in the driveway if I wanted to make a call from my old cell phone. They’re in some kind of black hole of cell service, or something.)

TOO MUCH CUTE!!!!!!!! Love the red eyebrow dots! I’m sure his paws smell like fritos, too. He’s perfect! WANT! NEED!

    • Alice Shortcake June 21, 2016 / 9:59 am

Yes, at least he has matching eyebrows!

I love how her back legs appear to be in “side saddle” position. And the earnest look on every doxie’s face – I would give her anything she wanted.

That’s it I’m changing my name to Gigi the dachshund lady, love love love this puppy!

AAHHHHHH! I want that pooch – so adorable. And, yes, Julie, earnest is the word for that sweet expression – somewhat pleading -WHY are my legs so short???? Or You are going to love me, right????? (You betcha, sweet thang.)

PS A Doxie is a dockside prostitute in England – in case inquiring minds want to know ?

Murray, I learn something new from you practically every day.

Doxies are also some sort of magical creature in the Harry Potter world–their bites are venomous but their eggs are useful for certain things.

I just binge read the whole series and I can’t remember that tidbit. Don’t tell me I have to read it all over again!???? I got absolutely nothing done around here for two weeks! (goes to get “The Philosopher’s Stone”……)(which is what it’s called in the original British publication, just fyi)

Oh, and Mike, the hover test is brilliant. You are the best.

        • allein June 21, 2016 / 10:06 am

A Doxy (otherwise known as Biting Fairy) is a small fairy-like creature, covered in hair with two pairs of arms and two pairs of legs. Doxies have two rows of sharp, venomous teeth.

It is in “Order of the Phoenix” (I think I spelled that right).

Yes, the drapes in 12 Grimmauld Place are infested with them. Fred or George sneak some away to investigate. Their eggs (?) become a key ingredient in Skyving Snackbox treats.

Wow, I bow to your superior memory! I guess I’d better read them again!

              • debg June 21, 2016 / 1:49 pm

I listen to them these days–that’s how I memorize them. And yes, I’m almost done with this year’s listen. Jim Dale is a riot. I’m about halfway through Book 7 right now; it’s a great way to speed up home improvement projects or to get through complicated knitting.

I had hoped that would happen for me but I just sat mesmerized as he read to me – I didn’t get a damned thing done! He is wonderful and I do want to listen to the rest. It just takes a long time to get Ebooks from the library.

I can count on you, Murray, to expand my knowledge with essential bits of information, the kind no one can function without. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Murray C. June 21, 2016 / 11:33 am

Ah, yes, useless information, my stock in trade.?

  6. JenDeyan June 21, 2016 / 10:08 am

As if being a Doxie pup isn’t cute enough, now they come in contrasting color schemes.

  7. Clairdelune June 21, 2016 / 11:27 am

Cute pup!! And, as usual, clever Mike.

  8. Mikeyfur June 21, 2016 / 11:37 am

Is puppy a chimera? I’ve seen half and half colors on a cat face. Is it the same for dogs?

    • Murray C. June 21, 2016 / 3:00 pm

Actually a proper chimera has two sets of DNA. There was an interesting program about a young woman who was trying to get welfare but they wouldn’t give it to her because they said that her DAN and that of her children didn’t match. Someone actually had to be with her for the birth of her next child. Then her very good lawyer found out about a woman in Connecticut who needed a kidney and whose son had agreed to be the donor. When they tested for compatibility they said that he wasn’t her son! Anyway, someone finally figured out what was going on and by diligent search found somewhere in these women’s bodies the other DNA. Weird, huh???

      • Smartypants June 21, 2016 / 8:45 pm

Amazing! That’s a very cool explanation. My first thought on seeing the charming pup was “chimera,” but my only knowledge about the condition was from an episode of “CSI”.

      • Kar June 22, 2016 / 1:47 am

People are weird. I’ve dealt with women who swear upon bibles that their children have been stolen and that the children in their homes are not theirs. DNA tests aside.

And to answer the inevitable questions they turn them over to authorities while demanding that their REAL kids be returned.

The question still stands as to how this happens or why it’s even possible. It’s one thing when an animal combines differing traits from its parents, but when there’s a sharp dividing line like that, something interesting must be going on. I had seen this in cats (and heard it called a chimera, too) but never in dogs. I just skimmed the Wiki articles on calico cats and tortoiseshell cats and chimerism and couldn’t understand what I was reading. It can’t be just the ordinary blending of genetic characteristics — there’s nothing ordinary about a left-right divide like that — but I have no idea what it is.

      Cute pup, but mystifying.

      • Murray C. June 22, 2016 / 9:11 pm

While I don’t know too much about it, there are people who have color divisions like that, (no spots, per se!) but it’s often accompanied by both sets of genitals, a hermaphrodite. Skin pigmentation may be part of a spectrum? of chimerism, I couldn’t say. And an animal’s fur color is just an extension of their skin colors. Having the sharp dividing line, as you note, does seem like a chimeric trait, I’d have to agree.

Me thinks someone ran out of Hair (err Fur) dye halfway thru
