That first hovertext made my day. Thanks, Mike!

Not clear on how Bambi got into the bathtub, though.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. Some details missing–did they leave their door open and the fawn wandered in . . . ? Seems unlikely, but unless they actually intentionally brought it in–wha’ happen??

      • allein June 24, 2016 / 2:58 pm

Actually, I googled Bambi in a bathtub (against advice given below) and found another story with a little more detail.

“(Willenbring) said the fawn was stuck in the fencing, and went out to help the fawn,” said Dionne Waugh, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

But in the process, Willenbring left the front door open.

“As I got close he ran along the fence and right inside the house,” Willenbring said. “Then down the hall and into the tub.”

Allein, your google-fu is impressive! Just like that, you answered two of my questions in a row. With pictures and everything. Thanks!

He looks sad. I imagine he’s wondering why there are no bubbles.

The “poodle pit bull” picture is so cute, but the story is really quite sad. I’ve read multiple “top ten” lists that categorize aggressive breeds and usually dachshund is classified as most aggressive. I think Chihuahuas are pretty high on that list, too. But those dogs never get banned. I can’t even imagine what I would do if my dog was banned in my city.

I almost had a fight with a coworker about the banning of pit bulls she was saying that all pits are basically bad dogs just waiting to go crazy and bite people. I believe it’s the owners responsibility when they get a powerful breed to socialize them and train them and that goes for all dogs.

Whenever this argument comes up, I can’t help but think of this picture..

Julie – Dog bans are sad, I agree. I live in Ontario where pit bulls have been banned for a few years. Existing dogs were grandfathered through when the law came into effect so no one had to make a tough choice about an existing pet. And while I’m anxious not to sound like I’m coming out in favour of the pit bull ban in my province, the decline in reported bites among the affected “dangerous” breeds was remarkable (112 pitbull-esque bites recorded in Toronto right before the ban, and only 19 bites recorded in 2014 afterwards). I’ve owned dachshunds and I agree: our male dachshund could be scary-aggressive at times – but there’s a certain reality at work: a pit bull in a rage could launch themselves at a human neck and their bite radius is large, too. A dachshund’s scope of attack is probably knees and below on an adult, and their bite radius is smaller. Still: Ontario’s pit bull ban has done nothing to reduce incidents of dog bites among the non-banned breeds – those bite reports are on the rise. So I’m not convinced these laws do what is/was intended.

Yes, I understand why these bans happen, and yes, I know that getting bit by a dachshund or chihuahua is nowhere near as destructive as getting bit by a larger dog. And yes, a lot of times, even when on a leash, larger dogs can’t be controlled and sometimes bite/maul people or other dogs. I just can’t imagine being in the position of being told that I had to sell my house and move just to keep my dogs, who I love more than most people.

But the answer is yes. I would move to keep my dogs.

I can honestly say that literally every pit bull I have met has tried to kill me. However, they aren’t the mindless barbarians people make them out to be. They’re much more subtle in their assassination attempts. What they do is lunge at their victims, thoroughly lick off all traces of sunscreen, and leave the hapless target exposed to carcinogenic UV rays (not to mention coated in pit bull saliva). They also mame and cripple unsuspecting humans by being insanely cute and deceptively heavy, resulting in painful back injuries for any human who picks up the “cute widdle pibble”. I’ve had to make a blanket rule for myself when visiting the shelter– no picking up pitties. Still not a good reason to ban them, though.

        HA HA!!

      • 6rabbits June 26, 2016 / 1:28 am

Wish more people would be aware of that study. Don’t agree with breed banning. Wish we could count on all humans to be responsible pet guardians. Glad to hear some cities that have bans have allowed owners of said breeds to be grandfathered in.
Interesting that politicians will label certain dog breeds as too dangerous to own, but will not ban assault weapons.

I would just like to say how proud I am that I was able to type the word “Ghibli” without peeking.

Click through to the pit bull disguised as Prince, people. You won’t be sorry!

It is a sad story, though. I’m not overly fond of pit bulls but my heart goes out to folks who love them and have raised them not to be aggressive.

Do not Google Bambi in bathtub. ?

    • Haha June 24, 2016 / 2:34 pm

Not even going to google it. Thanks for making me laugh!

Thank heavens for the safety on Google search.

Like the old story about someone’s mother who loved to make glass. Didn’t have the safety on when she googled gloryholes for her new kiln. She learned something new.

When they banned pit bulls in our town, those with existing pet pit bulls were grandfathered in. They were allowed to keep their pets, but they had to have special licenses and insurance. New pit bulls were not allowed at all, and were taken if found, and sent to another county where they weren’t banned. It may be a dumb law for most people, but unfortunately for pits, the local meth lab owners used them to guard their labs. Police were shooting them on a regular basis when they went to bust the drug labs, so really they were better off not being in town.
