Finally, a Benefit of Refined Sugars

  1. REFINED SUGARSJuly 16, 2016 / 6:15 pm

Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and all. However imagine if you
added some great graphics or videos to give your posts
more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and
video clips, this website could certainly be one of the most beneficial in its
    field. Amazing blog!

    • NOT THAT MIKE THE OTHER MIKEJuly 16, 2016 / 10:44 pm

That’s… that’s brilliant! I can add pictures to my articles! All these years writing for the Internet, and the secret to success was right under my nose waiting to be discovered!

But what kind of pictures? Industrial equipment? Victorian-era marital aids? Leather-upholstered dishwashers? Keynesian economists riding farm animals? Animals! That’s it! Everybody loves animals! Simple, elegant… Yes!

      IT… WILL… WORK!!!

And here you’ve been struggling with the Cutetropolis concept!

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike July 17, 2016 / 12:46 pm

I know! All this time I had been banging my head, wondering how to make my series of longform essays on Lost Secrets of Pre-Renaissance Metallurgy and Their Implications for 21-century Currency Markets relevant to wider audiences. And the answer was so obvious! Kittens!

      • Kar July 17, 2016 / 7:49 pm

And here I thought it was cornering the platinum and gold markets.

      • Clairdelune July 18, 2016 / 12:33 am

Am looking forward to your longform essays on Lost Secrets etc. etc.. They sound fascinating. Perfect reading for those nights when I have difficulty relaxing enough to fall asleep, NTMTOM. Please hurry! Pre-Renaissance Metallurgy has been on the top of my list of interesting topics since the tender age of 6. I guess we’re soul mates. 🙂

You mean there’s more to the internet than text?! This discovery could revolutionize the internet!!! Mind blown!@#$%&?¤⊙ω®©

    THIS is a game changer!

  4. Duckie July 17, 2016 / 11:34 am

Add cough syrup to the list of things not to be consumed while reading this blog. Mike, I nearly choked to death from laughing, but, ooh, I so desperately needed a laugh.
Nomtommers, tomorrow I start a temporary part time job. Given my past history, I am fully expecting to fail. But I am determined to do my best!
    ?

    • dubravkamcvmd July 17, 2016 / 11:43 am

Good luck! Why do you expect to fail? You’re here, therefore you’ve been able to keep yourself fed, ergo, success!

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike July 17, 2016 / 12:20 pm

Best wishes for success, Duckie. Doing your best is all that anyone can ask of another. You deserve to be given the best chance at success by everyone — and that includes you. Go in there knowing you’ll do well and see what a difference it will make.

    • Gigi_the cat lady July 17, 2016 / 1:51 pm

You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself Duckie, but I kind of understand, I usually expect the worst so I’m pleasantly surprise when things go my way.

    • debg July 17, 2016 / 2:15 pm

Best of luck, Duckie. We’re all on your side.

    • Smartypants July 17, 2016 / 2:20 pm

Go Duckie! A few years ago I had a temp part-time job (filing) between ‘real’ jobs, and it turned out to be delightful. Wishing you the best!

    • Em July 17, 2016 / 4:15 pm

Duckie, My guess is the you are kind, considerate and have many competencies. Feel strong knowing that they are there, and have been there all along. They don’t change or go away because of a job, they remain.

    • Murray C. July 18, 2016 / 11:48 am

I have managed to miss this thread and just saw your post, Duckie – do well and let us know how it goes. We will encourage you to soldier on.

    • Duckie July 18, 2016 / 3:26 pm

Am not doing the job that she was hoping I would do. Not computer savvy enough. But she has me writing book reviews, which I think I will enjoy more.

      • Em July 18, 2016 / 6:08 pm

        Way to go Duckie!

      • Murray C. July 21, 2016 / 11:52 pm

Hey, Duckie, how’s the job going?

  5. Liz July 17, 2016 / 11:39 am

Wait, (Mike), it might be dangerous…you go first. 😉

“Stay close to the candles. The staircase can be treacherous.” What amuses me about that scene is that the candles are unlit.

        We believe in you, Froder-Rick

  6. Luv Bunny July 17, 2016 / 12:56 pm

What am I missing? I don’t see a picture and I usually do.

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike July 17, 2016 / 12:59 pm

There’s no picture in this post, you’re not missing anything. This website gets a lot of “spam” comments generated by computer systems, and once and awhile I like to make fun of messages that seem particularly clueless, like the one at the top of the page.

  7. Gigi_the cat lady July 17, 2016 / 1:53 pm

Pictures? Did you say pictures? Where can one find such rare things on the Internet?

    • allein ? July 17, 2016 / 4:09 pm

I don’t know where anyone finds pictures on the internet.

      • Smartypants July 17, 2016 / 5:24 pm

Maybe even pictures of…CATS! It’s so crazy, it just might work.

        • allein ? July 17, 2016 / 7:14 pm

Yeah, I don’t think they exist.

  8. allein ? July 17, 2016 / 4:08 pm

Cats have always been interested in economics…

Okay, the batman one killed me!?

          • AJ July 17, 2016 / 7:16 pm

I snorted out loud with the batman one too. My poor hubby probably thinks I lost it. Well, I have but I’ve been keeping it under wraps pretty good til now, lol.

          • Kar July 17, 2016 / 7:47 pm

I would love to know the story behind that.

Lets be honest, I’d rather see what happens next than the superman/batman fiasco.

Ahhh Larson. My fave: Guy at Doctor. Cow heads all over him. Doc says, “Well, Mr. Smith it looks like you’ve got COWS.”

  9. Faye July 17, 2016 / 6:03 pm

So today I get a spammy automatic text that my SOUL is scheduled for service. God?

    Nope just Kia!

They worded that wrong! My Kia Soul is scheduled for service! Maybe they can tune up my level of compassion and top off my empathy. I know my values need rotating.

    • Gigi_the cat lady July 17, 2016 / 7:30 pm

You made me snort ginger ale!!

  10. Duckie July 17, 2016 / 8:18 pm

A tiny, infinitesimally wee part of me was hoping that Mike would demonstrate how images of Victorian-era marital aids would give his posts more “pop”.
Then I went into the bathroom and washed my mind out with soap.

    • allein ? July 17, 2016 / 8:31 pm

I googled but I didn’t find any funny pictures I felt I could share here…

      • Duckie July 17, 2016 / 9:07 pm

I may never eat pomegranates again…

    • Kar July 18, 2016 / 12:41 pm

That sounds like a lot of “hysteria.”

  11. Scoobie July 17, 2016 / 8:44 pm

What is the point of these spam messages. What do they achieve?

    • allein ? July 17, 2016 / 8:51 pm

      Entertainment for us?

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike July 17, 2016 / 8:52 pm

They are an attempt to put links to other websites in as many blogs as possible. The goal may be to boost the Google page ranking of commerce websites.

When I publish one of these messages as a “Dear Spambot” item, I always remove the links so that these attempts don’t succeed.

      • scoobiesnacks July 18, 2016 / 1:15 am

        ah thanks, I understand now.
