I’m embarrassed that it took me so long to get that.

Oh gosh. I just got it. Slooow on the uptake.

I love this ! A couple of years ago, I was in Florida kayaking to see the manatees, and several past by us in an inlet. A baby one brushed by my kayak, and I was ecstatic. I would have exploded with joy if a manatee had surfaced and hung out like this. Lucky women!

When I was a kid my parents took me to a little place in the Florida keys where the hotel owners had a manatee that they fed. She’d been hurt in a boat accident and was kind of “special”, so I am not sure she could have survived on her own. I would wade out, give her lettuce, pet her, and admittedly try to hug her! She wasn’t wild about hugs but loved the lettuce.

Kudos to the young lady for not touching it. I know its illegal but I’m not sure I could of resisted the temptation to bop him gently on the nose.

      Same here.
I loved the way she clapped her hands, like a gleeful child. I’m glad there are still those of us who can be thrilled by something like this.

I know I couldn’t have resisted. Oh, to swim with the manatees. . . .

Apparently the manatee hasn’t been informed of this law!? How do you not touch it if it climbs on your surf board?! Amazing self-control, there!

We have a stuffed (toy!) manatee that we named Hugh – I guess it’s inevitable. This is swooningly cute. I love me some manatees, big blorps of the bay.

My first thought went to the Hindenburg meme where the exploding Hindenburg is replaced by a manatee and it says “Oh the Huge Manatee” but this seemed more fitting here. Though I also found this:

(Also available in Hugh Grant and Hugh Jackman.)

Ack – accidentally voted this down while heading for the up button. No downvote!

I have to admit, I often don’t even think to upvote posts. Just assume that any upvote number should add 1, because I don’t think there’s a post here that I wouldn’t upvote for one reason or another.

That must’ve been an adolescent, looks small for a full grown manatee.

When it gets cold in Florida (under 68F), people flock to the state parks to see the manatees swim into the rivers.
