I am so very jealous of that hoomin.

I think Cleo prefers the carrots…I wonder if that’s how she gets her golden color πŸ˜‰

Cute! Thanks Mike. Adorable girl. (I mean the Possum!) ?

  4. Gigi the cat lady August 7, 2016 / 3:38 pm

That is by far the cutest possum I’ve ever seen ❀️????

    • debg August 7, 2016 / 3:59 pm

Yeah, Australia even has cute possums! I’m not overly fond of the North American variety, despite their amazing backstory, but the ones Down Under . . . gorgeous.

      • amyliz August 7, 2016 / 7:58 pm

Yes, DebG, I, too, have mixed feelings about our possums! How are you doing since the passing of Mr. Tibbles?

        • Laura August 7, 2016 / 9:33 pm

Our North American possums are cute as babies. But when they get older, they’re just not quite as cute. It’s too bad, because as babies they really are insanely adorable! But all baby animals are cute, I do believe…

I’m managing. It’s a little easier now that he’s buried. Thanks *so* much for asking.

Awwww. So sorry. I find comfort in knowing my departed Sammi Girl is nearby in the back yard.

            Hugs.

What a love of an opossum! I love how “mommy” can tell she wants back under her blankie.

Again, Australia has another adorably, cute animal. Not that the USA doesn’t have its’ share of cute but that country seems to have an abundance of cute. I’m also jealous of that hoomin.

I assume it’s to balance out the sheer number of things they have that want to kill you.

      • 6rabbits August 7, 2016 / 6:31 pm

Wasn’t it someone on this site who commented that the cute was Australia’s bait to lure people to be killed? Or something like that?

        • allein ? August 7, 2016 / 7:35 pm

Um, yeah, that was me. πŸ˜‰

          • 6rabbits August 7, 2016 / 8:48 pm

Okay, I’m dying laughing!??? Your original phrasing was so much better than my clumsy memory, too!?

            • allein ? August 7, 2016 / 9:13 pm

              πŸ˜€

I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure. I was thinking, that sounds like something I might say…so I just searched the site for the word “bait” and surprisingly enough, it was the first result. I didn’t expect to find it that easily. πŸ˜›

I think your original quote needs to be cross-stitched on a pillow with a border of all the adorable animals we love so much, with maybe a few deadly ones in the corners! ?
                ????

That little mouse-like mammal (marsupial?) is adorable! And I snorted at the first one!?Must retire and dream of teh qte!????????

Looks like a cross between a tree kangaroo and a squirrel! I soooo want a trip to Australia to see all the animal wonders!

I wonder how much of the fascination is just due to being exotic, though. One of my husband’s European colleagues came to visit the US and was pretty thrilled with our turtles πŸ™‚

  8. DC Cindy August 7, 2016 / 6:59 pm

True story, on my daily commute on the train ( Washington DC) I met a young man from Australia who was fascinated by our fireflies. That’s right, they don’t have fireflies down under!! I felt so smug for about 1 minute, until I remembered all the things he sees on a daily basis that i can’t; wombats, flying foxes, quokkas and now cute possums.

    • 6rabbits August 7, 2016 / 8:53 pm

Well, I’m very grateful to fireflies, then! Who would have thought we’d have nature that would fascinate someone from down under!?

  9. Sedro6 August 7, 2016 / 7:53 pm

Having a bushy tail surely tips the cuteness factor!

  10. Kar August 7, 2016 / 8:57 pm

That beady eye factor is off the charts cute. Love that honey fur. Stief and Gund definitely need to come out plush versions.

    • Clairdelune August 8, 2016 / 11:56 am

Too bad, Kar, that neither Stief nor Gund can reproduce those adorable little hands in action— the way he/she is holding that carrots .. that pink wiggly nose…

I Googled golden bush tail possum and got some of the cutest animal pics I’ve seen in a while.
