I sure hope they had a plan for cleaning all those rubber duckies up again!

    Also: Capybabies!

Those were my exact thoughts on the rubber ducks!!

      • Haha August 8, 2016 / 9:57 pm

They have something similar in my hometown. They sell the ducks with the hopes of “winning” and the proceeds go to a worthy cause. There is a temporary net downstream in the river after being funneled to single file to find the “winner”.

I was trying to find an appropriate picture, but this one is too good not to share. 🙂

          Ha! That’s great!

I wonder what Duck is thinking…

Gobi’s sweet little story made my eyes well up!! So precious. Please do keep us updated on his journey to his forever home, Mike! Thanks. 🙂

Gobi has made a soft spot in my heart. Autocorrect wanted to change Gobi to Hobo. Shrugs shoulders. Close. The soft spot is still there. I’m glad this little hobo Gobi chose her right person.

      @chase…
Me too! My goodness…tears of happiness for the teeny puppers and the smitten human. Wonderful story.

And yes Capybabies for the win!

      • 6rabbits August 9, 2016 / 12:51 am

        Thirding capybabies! ?
It would be hard waiting the four months to be reunited with that sweet puppers. Especially sweet story!?

*head explodes from teh qte* Is there anything in this world as adorable as a baby capy? I had no idea they are so endearing. 🙂

    • Duckie ? August 8, 2016 / 6:59 pm

      Yes, Mich. TWO baby capys!
      DUCKIES! 50,000 rubber duckies!
I hope they clean them up and give them to disadvantaged children.

I sent the ducky story to a friend of mine, who used to be a mall security guard. She claims to hate ducks, and often threatened to kick me out of the mall if I showed up wearing a vest with ducks on it. But every spring, she would look carefully through the gardens of the mall, and make a ‘fence’ of security tape around every duck nest she found, so that they wouldn’t be trampled. When the babies were old enough, she and her fellow guards would provide a safety escort over to the local pond. But she vehemently denies any positive emotions towards ducks.

Sounds like my dad, who hates cats.

*Can often be seen giving the girlcat scritches
*Lets the girlcat go to bed with him every night (she wuvs him)
*Is the first to freak out when the boycat is suspected of having escaped outside

      But he totally hates cats.

These two stories just crack me up. Me thinks they protest too much. My dad also wasn’t a big fan of kitties but my favorite picture I have of him is sitting in the recliner and my cat Charlie curled up with him.

        • allein ? August 8, 2016 / 9:53 pm

The best part is he’s been the girl’s person since day 1 (technically she’s my cat but she doesn’t know that).

          • Haha August 8, 2016 / 10:03 pm

These stories are hitting that soft spot in my heart again.

      • Jan August 8, 2016 / 11:06 pm

        @Allein:

My dad’s like that too, but Lily had him wrapped around her little paws in no time!

        • allein ? August 8, 2016 / 11:10 pm

My aunt’s cat use to always get up in his lap whenever we were there. My dad hated it so much he almost never tossed him off.

          • 6rabbits August 9, 2016 / 12:41 am

            ???

My dad was totally against me getting a rabbit for some reason. But when I had to move back home for a couple years, I would often come upstairs and find him laying on the floor stroking Kira’s ears and nose. She was big on licking/grooming the hand of the person petting her and my dad didn’t discourage that either!?

      • 6rabbits August 9, 2016 / 12:47 am

Do these cats have names, Allein?? I’ve noticed you’ve refered to them by gender only previously. (My uncle had many cats, and they had names, but he always called them “cat”.)

        • allein ? August 9, 2016 / 8:38 am

The girl is Stars and the boy is Stripes.

My cousin rescued them and their two siblings (found them on his boat the day after moving it into the water for the season, in May 2006) when they were a couple days old. He brought them home and his wife took them to the vet, who showed her how to bottle feed them, then she and the kids took care of them for 7 weeks (he’s allergic and his wife already had a cat who was not friendly, so they kept them in a spare bathroom). The kids (who were 8 and 10 at the time) named them Stripes and Claws (boys) and Sailor and Mitsy (girls). Somehow my mother agreed to take two of them; she liked Stripes because he was a different color (black/white/brown tabby) and I liked Mitsy because she was the smallest (ball of gray fluff at the time, but she’s also got tabby stripes, just different shades of gray so they didn’t show up as much until she was a couple months old). They came home on July 3rd, hence “Stars and Stripes.”

(The other two went to a friend of my cousin’s, and someone my cousin knew through work. One of them ended up with an older kitty brother who looked just like Stripes.)

There’s a podcast that I listen to, and the guy’s wife has a Yorkie (whose name is Tootsie but he always refers to as Rat Dog; sometimes she’s in the studio with him when he records the show), and a cat named Cat (who is a boy, and I’m not sure if they spell it Cat or Kat). They also adopted a Yorkie mix (Yorkie/Chihuahua, I think) named Henry, which he did a video on and I might have to find that, but I’m at work so it’ll have to wait.

Here are Henry (left) and Rat Dog, just cuz they’re cute and I love this picture.

          • 6rabbits August 9, 2016 / 10:35 am

Now that you say their names I do remember you using them before! And those 2 puppehs are beyond adorable!!!?

            • allein ? August 9, 2016 / 10:48 am

Maybe I’ll send Henry’s story to Mike and see if he wants to post it.

I nominate Dion Leonard as a Citizen of Cutetropolis! (like Men of CO, but non-gender specific). Here’s another good thing to know about him (from the story in the Independent):

“The £5,000 target [on the crowdfunding page] has already been smashed, with the page having already received £7,965 in donations after it went viral on social media.”

    Little Gobi is adorable.
