I like to keep one ear up on the alert, listening for can openers or delivery drivers who must be barked at, while the other ear is down to block out unpleasant words, like “bath.” For everything else, it’s a fifty-fifty chance that I’ll hear it.
Sender-inner Alice R. writes: “After my sweet elderly dog Maggie passed away, we adopted Prince. He’s a shelter dog with a heart of gold. But his most notable physical characteristic is his half mast right ear. His left ear stands tall.”
Alice R. – is his right ear always “half mast” or is that the relaxed state, and they both come up when he is excited?
Prince is a CUTIE!
I think shelter dogs know that their new place is so much better than the other place(s) and they are super appreciative. My Poncho always comes over to me to lick my face after every meal. It doesn’t smell great (think of a mixture of dog food and urine) but I feel like he would be sad if I didn’t let him do it.
Bless you, a real dedicated doggie lover!!! I also accept my kitty’s occasional licks on the face and now and then on the lips, despite the mix of cat food and who knows what part of herself she just finished licking…. that’s true love!!
I’ve never seen a CAT lick someone’s face! That is funny!
My cat does that! If you’re laying in bed with your eyes closed, she’ll lick your eyelids. It feels super weird.
Do you think she is licking your eyelids to wake you? Or because it tastes good?
I figure it’s the eternal quest for salty things.
Cat licks are painful! My cat licks my nose and it hurts – I often have to resort to “redirect”.
And that is one adorable dogggie – and you’re lucky to have found each other.
Yeah, those raspy tongues can be rather owwie.
I feel very lucky. He’s a sweet little man ?
My beloved late kitty Moose was an avid eyelid-licker! Such a weird thing to love so much 🙂 And when new people would come over, she would want to investigate them by sniffing their eyelids. Maybe our eyelids radiate personality.
Mine do it all the time, mostly on my nose but sometimes on my cheek.
My cat Mia will lick any part of my body she can reach and won’t stop until I take said part away or hide it under the covers!
It’s always at half mast. I hope it never pops up, as it totally adds to his cutie pie-ness.
I agree! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. 😀
My pleasure. He’s really helped with the grieving process. I’m happy to share his cuteness.
I LOVE half up ear, too! I bet it bounces really cutely when he runs.
It does!! He and his sister both have flappity ears when they run! ?
Alice R., I’m so happy for you all! Your household must be a wonderful place with Prince adding to the fun.
It’s really quite wonderful. He’s a a wonderful addition to our fur kid family. We have another dog called Pickles, and a cat called Cheese. They fill my life with a heck of a lot of joy.
You should have named him Turkey, so you could complete the sandwich. ?
I wanted to give him a slightly more fun name, but he already knew Prince as his name, so I’m stuck. But we’re going with it. I got him a purple leash and purple paisley collar.
Too funny!
Awesome!
And now Raspberry Beret has popped into my head.
?
He could write a song called When Dogs Cry.
Thanks, folks, I’ll be here all week.
Prince’s asymmetric ears only make him more adorable! Thanks for giving this sweetie a good home, Alice R.!
Thank you! He’s a wonderful little man.
*feels Lucky, then feels other ear*
Ah yes, I believe the Rules Of Cuteness dictate that “flying with one flap up” is cute 🙂
