Usually my teeth feel LESS fuzzy after brushing.

  2. allein ? October 3, 2016 / 8:59 am

Orange kitty makes a nice contrast with the blue sink.

Did he buy an electric toothbrush just for kitty scritching?

  3. Birdcage October 3, 2016 / 9:28 am

(inner thought: that guy can use his electric toothbrush on me any time he wants…..)

    • allein ? October 3, 2016 / 9:30 am

          because of the vapors?

Yes! I simply couldn’t go on!

Thank you, dear. Any more talk of that handsome young man and his vibrat–uh–*toothbrush* and I may require the smelling salts!

  4. Faye October 3, 2016 / 9:38 am

This is an example of Human Training at its best. Note folded towel in sink. And training the human to brush your teeth and simultaneously scritch you while serving as a cat pole too is phenomenal.

That guy is cute and he knows his way around handheld electronics.

  5. michael October 3, 2016 / 9:50 am

I am going to assume that it is orange’s dedicated ‘tooth’-brush.

  6. Juno October 3, 2016 / 9:56 am

I have the same toothbrush and a marmie. Please nobody tell him about this.

(Oh, who am I kidding? You know this is the first thing I’m going to do when I get home tonight.)

    • Faye October 3, 2016 / 10:18 am

Go for it and never look back.

      • Juno October 4, 2016 / 10:17 am

Follow up report: Neither cat took to the idea. I’m not surprised, now that I think about it–the toothbrush looks and sounds a lot like the grinder thingy I use on their claws, and they HATE that.

I took my husband to the emergency room last night with a kidney stone. They kept him over night and I’m waiting for news at the moment. And the cherry on top is, I took the wrong exit after dropping him off at the door and had to back up the long narrow curved passageway and scratched the back fender of the car ?

If you guys would please send some positive thoughts my way, it would be appreciated, thank you.

    • Birdcage October 3, 2016 / 10:29 am

Positive thoughts on their way, Gigi!!! Sorry to hear of the difficulties last night. Hope all turns out well today with your husband.

      Bonne chance, Gigi, with everything.
      We’re sending positive thoughts north

      Good thoughts!

    • Mikeyfur October 3, 2016 / 1:56 pm

Show your hubby this video, Gigi! It’s guaranteed to make everyone feel better. So sorry you had such a rough time, and hoping things are better today. Many good thoughts and wishes for a quick recovery for him and an inexpensive repair for the car coming to you from a fellow cat lady here in Kentucky.

      • allein ? October 3, 2016 / 2:10 pm

I heard that on Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me on my way to work this morning.

        • fkaWaldenPond October 3, 2016 / 10:01 pm

I just checked and I can download the podcasts up here and listen to them at home. I would prefer to download and listen to them on my commute, run or walk but I stubbornly stay with my ipod shuffle. (So I don’t need to look down at a screen to change what I look at, eyes up, less fumbling, tripping hazard, just press with a finger for next.) I may need to rethink this.

          • allein ? October 3, 2016 / 10:04 pm

I don’t know how the shuffle works exactly, but I put podcast episodes on a playlist so I don’t have to mess with the ipod after every show. I have a nano, so I have to do it on my computer and then sync it, but then I can just play the playlist.

I’ve had kidney stones and it’s all about the pain. Otherwise they’re not that significant. I’m guessing you were terrifically distracted by your poor husband’s suffering and driving was not on your front burner. All will be well!

    • LunaChickFringe October 3, 2016 / 2:45 pm

I’ve been through that twice with my SO. It is terribly painful. The first time it happened we thought it was a heart attack. The male nurse we had told us his wife had equated the pain to childbirth. They sent him home with a strainer. I’m not kidding. if he “caught” it he was to take it to his primary care doc to be evaluated. It was like a large grain of sand in the end. Here’s hoping all this “passes” soon!

    • Murray C. October 3, 2016 / 3:21 pm

Oh, yeah, we’re sending them! For both of you – I understand kidney stones are only second to childbirth when it comes to pain.

      • Dubravkamcvmd October 3, 2016 / 3:51 pm

Your comment reminded me of the one satisfaction I had experiencing a kidney stone. Kidney stones are one of the few things doctors will not desctibe as discomfort rather than pain. I had always suffered from what I tried to tell everyone was very painful menstrual cramps. When I had the kidney stone i could say that on at least one occasion I had menstrual cramps as bad as, if not worse than, a kidney stone.

        • Murray C. October 3, 2016 / 5:25 pm

Oh, Dubra(etc) that’s awful! I cannot believe what some women have suffered in their lives just because they’re women! I had a friend who was VERY pregnant and she started to get these terrible pains and din’t know if she was delivering a it early or what and her husband (very religious) told her to “offer it up” – and it turned out she had a kidney stone. She said it was a toss-up whether the stone or the delivery cause worse pain. To this day I still get the urge to scratch her husband’s eyes out. “Offer it up” indeed. How helpful.
(sorry to use a shortened version of your name!)

          • dubravkamcvmd October 3, 2016 / 9:52 pm

No, I like Dubra(etc), I might use it myself! The combination of religion and misogyny (not uncommon) is especially toxic.

          • Haha October 4, 2016 / 2:54 am

I’m sorry you sound very angry. I don’t know, but It didn’t sound like your friend was denied medical care if she found out she had kidney stones. In my experience, men feel helpless up against the pain of childbirth, both (usually) want the child, can’t get it without childbirth that’s the way it works, to get the child he did this to her. In their dealings with each other that they as a couple have developed, that might have been how he could offer her what he could. I like to give the poor guys that have to watch their significant other in pain without much they can do about it a little benefit of doubt. I read the interaction as the poor guy who really can’t do much trying to offer what he could in the way that couple worked with each other.

Lunachickfringe made me gigglesnort, so Gigi, I’ll add (truly in sympathy even though I like to laugh and look on the bright side) that I hope your difficulties pass.

            • Haha October 4, 2016 / 3:02 am

And here is some sweetness to help distract for a little time. It was even titled “happy kitten”?

              • Murray C. October 4, 2016 / 9:45 am

                Sweet, thanks, HaHa.

            • Murray C. October 4, 2016 / 9:36 am

I’m not angry in that way, just find it maddening that he couldn’t have been more sympathetic. I know the people involved and am not altogether surprised at this person’s reaction. I heard about this from the wife and it was many years beyond the actual event.
“Offer it up” is a phrase that puts the onus on the person doing the suffering and is pretty unsympathetic.

Positive thoughts & prayers headed your way

  8. Ricky's Mom October 3, 2016 / 10:26 am

Perfect timing! Am going for tooth cleaning later today. Must remember to show this to hygienist if I can get a signal. 😀

Sending tons of positivity your way, Gigi! My brother has had kidney stones several times. V. painful! But I believe medicine has made strides in treatment, and I am sending best wishes for your husband’s quick springage from Kidney Jail.

  9. Faye October 3, 2016 / 12:05 pm

Awww Gigi. Hope hubby is home soon. ?

  10. Doug October 3, 2016 / 12:23 pm

MOM !! .. Joe has been brushing the cat again with my tooth brush !!

  11. Marianne October 3, 2016 / 12:41 pm

I have a dedicated, battery-operated, blue-and-white toothbrush for my cat. She adores it. Drools, purrs, goes away and comes back for more, for at least 10 minutes every evening. She almost goes cross-eyed in lush delight!

    • allein ? October 3, 2016 / 12:44 pm

Sounds like my Stars and the lint roller. If she hears you using one (usually to get her fur off your clothes…) she comes running.

      • Marianne October 3, 2016 / 1:45 pm

Oh, my Stars and garters! She probably comes running to put more fur back onto your clothes!

        • allein ? October 3, 2016 / 1:48 pm

She just loves being rolled. I don’t know what it is. If you hold it still she’ll shove her head under it and do it herself.

Stripes, on the other hand, will let my mom vacuum him. Unfortunately Stars is the one who could use a good vacuuming, but she’d never stand for that.

          • Laura October 3, 2016 / 10:46 pm

We had a kitty, named Marianne, when I was a young child who adored being vacuumed. Alas, no other cat *or* dog I’ve had has ever let me get near it with one, much as I wish I could at times. This one certainly loves his toothbrush! I wonder if the guy ever uses it on his teeth, too, though — since he likes it that much on his fur, you’d think he would also like it on his toofies. Cats is strange.

            • allein ? October 3, 2016 / 11:34 pm

Stars won’t even stay in the room if the vacuum is on. Or in the living room, because my parents have a central vacuum system and the canister is on the other side of the wall in the garage, so you hear it in the living room no matter where you’re cleaning. She does like to sit in the middle of the coiled hose when it’s turned off, though. I imagine she’s pretending she’s killed a giant snake.

  12. Anne October 3, 2016 / 8:14 pm

My cat Arthur was standing by, begging for scritches, and turned his attention to this video and watched RAPT throughout. After which he went back to his head butting etc. I think he’s ready for his toothbrush!
