I Can’t Bear the Suspense

“I’m telling you, it was the most horrible creature I ever saw, or ever hope to see. Those long, spindly legs, that sharp pointy snout, and the eyes — its dark, unblinking eyes, staring down at me. I don’t know how, but I managed to hide from it so it couldn’t see me. Otherwise I don’t think I’d be alive to tell you about it.”

Aww! I just want to cuddle that baby and tell him it’s gonna be okay.

    Best. Scrolldown. Ever.

Precious sweeties! I bet in a few weeks they’ll be pals.

I wouldn’t be surprised if those two turned out to be pals later that day. It’s amazing how adaptable and accepting baby animals are.

I also love how those bear instincts kick when the fawn moves closer. “Let me stand on my hind legs and make myself look big”. I doubt the cub even knows why he does it. It’s just in him.

So true! The baby bear’s instinct was like a kitten’s when it floofs up — at that age, there’s nothing in the world scary about it, although that will change as it grows older, obviously. In the meantime, it’s just funny/adorable that a bear is scared of a baby deer. It’s Upside Down world today!

You reminded me of when the cats first met Pablo. They were about 8 weeks old; he was a 6-pound Chihuahua. He didn’t much care one way or the other about them, but Stars was terrified. She went under the corner of the bed, arched her little back as high as it would go, and hissed the mightiest hiss she could muster. Which was…not at all intimidating, to say the least.

(Pablo went home a few days later, and by the time they saw him again they were bigger than he was. She still ran and hid.)

At first I thought the fawn was a toy because he was so still, but then that their defence, being still as to not attract attention to themselves. And the baby bear standing up, so cute both of them!

Yes, that standing up posture to make himself look big and fearsome – NOT! Sweet, sweet, sweet.

Later, when he’s trying to blend in with stair posts: “Where’s a tree when you need one?!”

  4. Faye October 11, 2016 / 10:43 am

    Oh the horror! (both)

Alright. I am truly annoyed here. I went through my entire place and not one tiny bear or spindly deer did I find. Is there some reason, and it better be a REEEALLY good reason, these people have baby animals in their home and I don’t?!?!

It was a special one-time offer on late night TV. You must have been asleep when it aired. Too bad.

      • Murray C. October 11, 2016 / 3:53 pm

Yes, offered to only the first caller – who also possessed a Romanesque Roomba.

I have so many questions. Like why does that guy have a baby bear cub living in his house. How many fawns does he take in every year.

And is that a Greek statue-roomba in the background? I would love to see that scooting around the living room.

    • Gigi the cat lady October 11, 2016 / 12:35 pm

Wow! I didn’t see the Greek statue-roomba, I was too focused on the babies!

    • Murray C. October 11, 2016 / 1:43 pm

I, too, wondered about the statuary – most interesting.

    • Faye October 11, 2016 / 2:16 pm

Let’s deduce: bear cub + fawn + Greek statue Roomba + marble like flooring + magestic wooden staircase = the King of the Hidden Castle of the Pagan Forest Rangers. Yeah. That’s him. Now that you mention it I recognize the voice.

I went to the youtube page in hopes of finding out the answers to at least the first, and maybe the second question. Alas…

Can’t help but think poor deer is being set up for serious disappointment in later life.

    • Murray C. October 11, 2016 / 3:51 pm

How SWEET! Those little wobbly legs and the shy determination.

    • allein ? October 11, 2016 / 3:59 pm

Okay, right at the end when he sits back on his little tocks with the twitchy little foot…

Why are you trying to kill me when I still have an hour left of work?

    • Smartypants October 11, 2016 / 4:16 pm

I can’t quite read the label on the bag – is it ‘Baby Fawn Food’ or ‘Baby Bear Food’? 😀

      Too sweet!

      • Faye October 11, 2016 / 6:21 pm

        Angel Food.

        • Amyliz October 11, 2016 / 6:41 pm

          😀

    • Amyliz October 11, 2016 / 5:03 pm

Yay, my submission got posted! I’m pretty sure it’s the same adorable duo!

    • Faye October 11, 2016 / 6:20 pm

No Mike. It’s a common occurrence for people to have baby bears and fawns around the house. Lol, of course it’s them.

      Such adorableness.

    • Gigi the cat lady October 11, 2016 / 6:42 pm

They bopped noses! I am dead!
