Oh come on .. It’s only been 756 (cub) years since the last win *GRINS*

I’m a Mets fan, but I have to say, I am REALLY happy for the Cubbies and their loyal fans.

Me too!! I was actually tearing up this morning listening to the re-play of the announcer doing the last few minutes of the game. I think the last time a World Series was this exciting was the 1986 Mets vs Boston series. And I was there in NYC when the Mets took it all, man talk about pandemomium, that’s what Chicago is probably like this morning.

What? Was there some kind of game going on or something? ⚾⚾⚾

  4. Faye November 3, 2016 / 8:27 am

Yanks fan. But WAY TO GO CUBBIES!

  5. Amyliz November 3, 2016 / 8:33 am

Not really a sports fan but the Cubs winning is pretty cool! I love a good underdog story!

    • Doug November 3, 2016 / 8:55 am

      Under who ?

    • Murray C. November 3, 2016 / 9:56 am

I’m in your camp, Amyliz – I saw not a thing, I heard not a thing until last night when I tuned in a station at random to see if I could find out the winner and it was 6/6 and a rain delay. I figured I’d wait ’til morning to find out the score. I’m glad for the Cubs additionally because the other team’s logo is SO offensive.

I didn’t realize it was on until I went to watch Criminal Minds, and the guide said it was a new episode but what was playing was a rerun from last season. Apparently a few shows decided to air reruns instead of new episodes opposite the last two games. Didn’t know who won until I heard it on the radio this morning.

I’m very happy for all the Cubs fans on this site – let the festivities – and perhaps some gloating? – begin!

          • AJ November 3, 2016 / 12:43 pm

Or would that be “goating” since they broke the curse?

            • Murray C. November 3, 2016 / 12:54 pm

That perplexed me for a minute – then I remembered Stephen Colbert last night and he taped two segments about the winner since they tape too early for that to be known ahead of time. And there was a goat on the Indians segment. And was eating barbecued goat on the Cubs segment. That Stephen.?

As a Clevelander, I will not start a “war” with you but it’s an issue that is resolving itself over time.

        • Nancy November 3, 2016 / 2:35 pm

Echo here. For today let’s focus on the players who have nothing at all to do with team names & logos and just remember a bunch of men who played their hearts and souls out and succeeded far beyond what anyone expected of them. I can imagine how thrilled the Cubs players are, and congrats to them & hugs to my Cleveland team!

          • Dulcie November 3, 2016 / 3:08 pm

Very well put Nancy! Both teams played their hearts out and were very well matched…unfortunately someone has to lose and experience the heartbreak!! No consolation exists for the team that doesn’t make it except that they played well.

As a Clevelander, I sadly cannot find the cute in this post. Maybe in a few days. Or after the election…

    • hilz November 3, 2016 / 3:09 pm

Hey now, there’s no crying in baseball.
      🙂

      • LunaChickFringe November 3, 2016 / 3:13 pm

LOL! So true! Not so much crying but I always have to talk my husband off the ledge at the end of every baseball season.

      • Dulcie November 3, 2016 / 3:26 pm

        OMG Hilz that’s too funny!

      • allein ? November 3, 2016 / 3:39 pm

My ex used to say that to Pablo when he would whine.

        • Ricky's Mom November 3, 2016 / 5:39 pm

The Brooklyn Dodgers, and their spiritual children, the old Amazins (NY Mets to those of you who don’t follow the game), understood all too well the power of Wait Till Next Year.

I too, find the Cleveland name and logo offensive, but that’s not the players’ fault. I’d never blame the workers for what is management’s fault. Nor would I blame the fans, though I would hope they would be open-minded about a change in nomenclature. But that’s a matter for another day. Let them lick their wounds in peace.

Still happy for the Cubbies, though. 108 years is a loooooooong time.

          • Murray C. November 3, 2016 / 7:45 pm

I know that and don’t blame the players but I had to choose between the two and that was a negative for the Cleveland team that broke the tie of what is, truthfully, indifference to sports on my part! (true confessions!)

  7. Gigi the cat lady November 3, 2016 / 9:43 am

Congrats to the Cubs! In that contest at least, both sides were worthy of a win.

  8. Dulcie November 3, 2016 / 10:07 am

Cubbies = cute. But they fought like lions! To come all the way from behind like that takes grit!

  9. Duckie ? November 3, 2016 / 11:14 am

Since no one else has said it, I must.
“Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!”

Actually, I think the thing to say is Tinkers to Evers to Chance — because those three guys were actually players on the Cubs the last time they won the Series! That was a really exciting series, and congrats to the Indians for playing a really great game. I always prefer to see a Series to go the full seven games and making a real contest out of it. But as a lifelong Cubs fan, I’m sure there are W pennants hanging all over the city of Chicago today!

My mom, who’s been a Cubs fan her entire life, turned 96 last month. And this is the first time she’s ever seen them go all the way! Here’s hoping they’ve broken that curse for once and for all. Being lovable losers is good for the first 108 years, but after that you want a team that’s competitive once in a while. 🙂

    • Amyliz November 3, 2016 / 7:35 pm

Aw, bless your Mom’s heart! I’m glad she got to see her Cubbies win!

    • Murray C. November 3, 2016 / 7:47 pm

There was a woman interviewed on NPR who was about to be 102! and is a big Cubs fan – she was thrilled, to say the least – she was around for their last win – as was your Mom. glad for them especially.

Hey Peeps, this is good for a smile! 🙂

  12. Muppet2171 November 3, 2016 / 9:28 pm

I saw a statistic where something like 1 in 4 Cubs fans wanted them to lose because a losing streak that long was like a badge of honor almost. Kind of a shame to end it or something.

My two sisters from Akron Ohio were over, and we went to Wisconsin for a Take 6/ Manhattan Tsf concert. My Sisters mourned the loss of the “Tribe” by one point, and while I really didn’t give a hoot (Go Broncos), we all agreed that it was a shame anyone had to lose given the hard fought series.
