    I meant to do that.

I think that’s not water .. Something a little stronger
    (Can birds get drunk? hehe)

Birds have been known to get drunk on fruit that’s fallen from trees and fermented.

Not just birds. Richard Attenborough, I think, filmed a mammalian orgy of this sort.

I vaguely recall seeing a video of drunken elephants once.

One time my father and his friend were making daiquiris. They’d apparently already had a few and forgot to put the lid on. Mom got back from the store and found the dog wandering around with a dumb look on his face and tail sluggishly wagging, and dad & friend dabbing daiquiri off the walls with bread and eating it.

Eucalyptus leaves ferment in the bellies of Koalas, and since it is all they eat they go through theirs lives perpetually smashed.
Also the feets on the bird when its at the bottom, its like a cartoon!

I thought you were going to say that Richard Attenborough got drunk of fruit fermenting on the ground!

I got worried for it’s little wings, but i guess they’re stronger than they look.

Does anyone else think that the bird is owned by a magician and the bird is part of the act? I say this only because of the bowtie next to the glass.

Awwww!! That little white boid looks exactly like my dearly departed white budgie!

I’m always surprised to find that budgies have any survival instincts, they’re so curious, but here’s a Beeb video of flock of budgies safely making it out of peril (David Tennant narrates):

That is pretty cool beans on the Budgies’ part. There are quite a few raptors in my hood, mostly red hawks and oh boy, judging by some of the gory remains of pigeons– well, I don’t think pigeons are able to maneuver so adroitly.

I must be honest here Peeps, but that has been me, metaphorically in a pint glass back in the day.

    • Smartypants March 29, 2017 / 9:24 pm

I hear you, FKA – thank goodness they didn’t have phones with cameras back in my day!

      • fkaWaldenPond March 29, 2017 / 9:27 pm

        ;D

I am genuinely confused how anyone thinks this video is cute or funny. We have a small parrot, not much bigger than this bird and we are always concerned that she might fall into a glass. A scene like this is nightmarish to me.
Perhaps the people liking this clip don’t have birds and don’t understand what they are watching. Or maybe I am overreacting and need to reassess my own fears.

    • burvegas March 30, 2017 / 2:28 pm

Heavens, Baylis, you are allowed whatever fears you may have. If it helps, think of this video as a PSA to folks who might otherwise leave birdies unsupervised around drinks.

The fermented fruit of the marula trees in Africa are the ones being talked about as causing drunken escapades for elephants and monkeys. When so much fruit ripens at the same time, it falls from the trees and can’t all be consumed before it starts to decompose which causes it to ferment and become potent!! I’ve watched quite a few videos of the craziness when this happens.
