I really need to know the story behind this picture.

Looks like a little kid in a bear suit.

Like Allein, I want to know more. What, how, and why isn’t that me with a baby bear cub?! And totally adorable little bearsie.

I’m in love with this picture and post…the intense expression on little bear’s face and the tiny grin on Mr. Ranger’s face. It made me so happy!

That is Ed Begley Jr., and he was in a movie called Ms. Bear from 1997. I never saw it, but it might be from that.

Here’s the trailer for that movie. The bear cub in the movie seems to be larger than the one in the picture. (Ed Begley Jr.’s ears look smaller than the man in the picture, and his character doesn’t wear glasses in any scenes.)

Hmm, well then that guy looks a hellovalot like Ed Begley Jr.!

The man in the still photo, who does resemble Ed Begley, Jr, rather strongly in that shot, is actually a Mr. Clark of Clark’s Trading Post in New Hampshire, and the tiny bear cub is Moxie. I have never been to Clark’s Trading Post, but they are by all accounts a tourist attraction. By several accounts they are also cruel to the animals they train for performance, keeping them in surroundings that are well below standard. Personally I distinguish between zoological societies that are dedicated to the preservation of animal species and to science and education, and such private zoos and roadside attractions. I have long since given up attending circuses that include animal acts.

Having said that, I have no firsthand knowledge of this particular business. The little bear is awfully cute in his own right, and I hope he had a good life.
