Fiona Update: I’m So Happy I Could Masticate a Sprinkler

Now at 130 pounds and still going strong, Fiona the preemie hippo is enjoying new experiences every day. Today it’s a garden sprinkler, which she finds good enough to eat.

I enjoy keeping up with Fiona, but NTMTOM’s title made me snort then immediately inhale a laugh. I’m glad no one is around to witness my dorkiness. I can explain to Cutetropolians, they understand, others, not so much.

Yeah, when I wrote that title I realized that these posts get published to Facebook and Twitter, many of whose readers will have NO idea what this in-joke means.

That makes it better, if you ask me. 😉

Then they’ll start searching for “sprinkler” on the site, and they’ll win the jackpot.

I love the big wet Fiona kiss at the end but “I’m so happy I could masticate a sprinkler” ??? NTMTOM you slay me!!!

This of course is just standard toddler behavior: Ooh, look — a thing. I will put it in my mouth.

Also standard dog behavior; not just puppies, either.

I seriously can’t take off my new #TeamFiona sweatshirt long enough to launder it. Love this big blorpy bouncy baby!

LOL, I love this so much! I was just writing an email submitting it and I figured I should check first…

Fiona footage always causes me to emit high-pitched squeaks of glee!! ?

I came back to read the subsequent comments and now I’m sitting here with a big goofy grin on my face. Criminently NTMTOM, my weirdness is getting encouraged to no ends today!

Oh, did I need this today. I think I may have just drawn my first full breath of the day. Love the title, and love the wet hippo nosicle kiss at the end. Thank you NTOTOM and all the Cutetropolitans!

I meant, of course, NTMTOM. I plead stress for the typo.

Hey Ricky’s Mom, hope tomorrow is better for you.

Well, they’re opening up my ceiling today to find out if there’s underlying structural damage in the beam. That would call for a structural engineer before they could even make a plan for repair. If it’s just drywall damage, the repair will be much simpler.

Either way, finding out will beat all heck out of yesterday, spent wondering if the whole thing was going to come crashing down on me, or on Ricky, or on both of us. V. Stressful. Finding out is much, much better than not knowing.

Oh my! Please let us know how it goes today.

I have learned so much about hippos from the Fiona posts, and have never been so invested in one. I think she truly will be historically important because–by what I understand–no one anywhere has had the experiences Cincinnati Zoo has had with this preemie and what they have learned from her can contribute to hippo knowledge (no, not what hippos know) world-wide. In a previous post, someone mentioned that, in 30 years, we’ll still remember who she is and watch her family grow. Very true!

I feel the same way, Sumo-Mermaid (great name!). I check on Fiona every day, then I come here to see Mike’s bonus value added. 🙂

That’s what I’ll be calling manatees from now on.

Masticate, yes I’m good at that too. Reminds me of running through the sprinkler on hot summer days. Bright sun, squishy grass, water rainbows.
