Know Your Household Pests

Since today is National Pests Day, let’s take a look at one of the stranger household pests one might encounter: the catipede. This furry, multi-legged arthropod makes its home in drier desert climates, where it often lives in burrows. Aggressive by nature, larger species will walk casually into homes, where they…

Excuse me, I’ve just been informedย that this is National Pets Day, not National Pests Day. Never mind.

Yeah, but catipedes make great pets, so you’re cool.

National Pests Day would explain the ginormous mosquito that was on the wall outside my door this morning.

    Panoramic kitty is much cuter.

And so much more fun to stroke – it could take a half hour from end to end – including the tail, of course. But taking it to the vet could present some difficulties insofar as finding a carrier that could accommodate it.

(My up score hasn’t shown up at all after clicking)

Panoramic kitty is somewhat disturbing, but the pic is amazing. Thank you, Not That Emily Litella, The Other Emily Litella.

My Cat manages to be pesty every day.

    • allein April 11, 2017 / 11:24 am

      That’s his job.

      • Faye April 11, 2017 / 11:54 am

Yes. This cat is particularly pesty though. Sigh.

I feel you, Faye. My kitty is the same.

Yes, me three with ol’ flappy-lips. Sigh.

Actually, with cats, I think it’s more like a religious calling!

  4. maia April 11, 2017 / 11:06 am

Of course the cat walks through! Why else would you be taking a photo, if not to take one of the cat? That’s an awesome effect.

…also good for blocking drafts under doors…

  6. tara April 11, 2017 / 11:44 am

Oh yes, send me a Catipede please. It would make an excellent boa. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Smartypants April 11, 2017 / 11:54 am

    Gee, I thought a ‘Cat snake’ was a ferret…

My cats have only 4 paws each but I am still covered with scratches after playing with them. Imagine the same with catipedes…
Nail-clipping might be quite time-consuming, but I still wouldnt be able to say no to a neverending cat or two ๐Ÿ™‚

Ages ago I read some article dealing with foreign insults and curses. There was one from eastern Europe, can’t remember where exactly, that amounted to “I hope your wife gives birth to a centipede and you go bankrupt paying for shoes.”

      • Smartypants April 11, 2017 / 5:46 pm

I love it! And recently I heard Sen. John McCain, commenting on the latest political scandal, saying something to the effect of “We’re just waiting for another shoe to drop from that centipede!”

        • murkle46 April 12, 2017 / 9:07 am

          That is wonderfully snarky.

I much prefer the catipede to the human centipede. ::shudder::
P.S. If you don’t know what that is DO NOT look it up!!!

    • fkaWaldenPond April 11, 2017 / 2:05 pm

You mean real centipedes- ughh I know. I cannot stand those things! When I was in my young teenage years I had a futon (it was cool people to sleep on, ok??!)where I woke up to one crawling on my neck. The coolness waned pretty quickly after that.

    • allein ? April 11, 2017 / 2:47 pm

I second that DO NOT look it up.

Also, have you seen the Human Santapede? ๐Ÿ˜›

Probably don’t look that up either.

This pic makes me giggle everytime I look at, for some reason it reminds me of an accordian. And I love the text accompanying it.

    • debg April 11, 2017 / 2:15 pm

Accordion cat! I like that idea.
