Links: The Opposite of Faceplant

And finally: And a Beaver Shall Lead Them

On the plains of Saskatchewan, 150 cows decided to follow a beaver, because seriously they’re cows and what else is there to do? Right,ย Michelle P., Andrew Y. and Sharon H.?

I wonder what the beaver thinks about this situation…

I wonder what a beaver is doing on the plains. Don’t they usually live in forest-and-stream areas? Regardless, this looks like the world’s slowest stampede.

Threadjacking to post this ridiculously cute picture of Fiona sleeping:

New frontiers in Cute! I’m thinking Fiona may be an innovator. Also, watching the video of the family that got their 15-year-old cat back caused me to cry probably only a little less than the family did.

Yes to the cat story – even in the pix where you can only see the family members partly or from the back, you can totally tell how happy they are.

OMG Fiona! She gets cuter every single day.

      • Emsthemonster April 19, 2017 / 1:16 pm

I cannot tell how big/ heavy she is, but she is so cute in this pic that I would let her sit in my lap.

        • Smartypants April 19, 2017 / 5:36 pm

I think it’s a pretty recent pic, so she’d probably cut off the circulation for a while (100+ Lb. / 45+ Kg.) – but so worth it!

Yesterday Fiona weighed 166 pounds, according to the Fiona blog. And I recall reading an entry days ago that acknowledged the safety problems the team will have to watch for as she continues to gain weight. The staff may already be having to avoid getting into the small pool and cuddling with her as they could only weeks before.

Aww – that’s kind of poignant. It’s a good problem to have, though.

Oh, by the way, this site is working well for me now – loading promptly, remembering my info, and counting my upvotes. Fingers crossed!

It’s amazing how calm the beaver is while being followed by an entire herd of curious (an likewise, calm) cows.

  2. Gigi the cat lady April 19, 2017 / 8:55 am

The cows are just trying to figure out what that funny moving fur ball is. LOL! People think cows are stupid but they are actually very curious and will investigate anything new as I discovered when my mom hung my new dress too close to the fence at my aunt and the cow chewed it to bits! LOL!!!!.

I wondered if the beaver would show up here today! Watched it yesterday.

“The Opposite of Faceplant” has me in tears of laughter.

My briefly known childhood dog used to regularly eat up as many of my 100 plus box of Crayola Crayons. The metallic gold, silver and bronze were particularly impressive on the way out. Poop Art Movement.

      • Smartypants April 20, 2017 / 8:29 pm

Our dog ate all the hollow decorated Easter eggs off the Easter tree (he was mad because we went out and didn’t bring him along). The only one he left intact was plastic!

Remind me not to eat ANYTHING pumpkin at that corgi owner’s place.

    • Ricky's Mom April 19, 2017 / 12:03 pm

Indeed. The plant is very pretty, but someone should give that owner the (dog) poop on safe and unsafe fertilizers for food plants.

      • debg April 19, 2017 / 1:08 pm

Is dog poop unsafe or just gross?

        • Smartypants April 19, 2017 / 5:27 pm

My understanding is that any poop needs to be broken down by composting rather than going straight into the garden, because the heat of the compost pile kills germs that might be harmful.

And I think even when composted, it’s only safe to use poop from vegetarian animals like cows and horses (such as ‘poo pots’ or horse manure) and not from carnivores like cats and dogs – different types of germs, presumably.

(adding) – on the other hand, folks pay a premium for those coffee beans that have been pooped out by civet cats, so…don’t know where that fits into the equation! ๐Ÿ˜€

I have never heard about dogs that eat pumpkins but well our own dog ate slippers and no new pair grew in the garden.

Note to self. Think carefully before reading Cutetropolis with a head cold. The coughing fit caused by the snort of laughter needs to be weighed for positive and negative effects.
Laughter is the best medicine, so thanks EMSTHEMONSTER?

      • Emsthemonster April 19, 2017 / 1:54 pm

Oh head cold? I hope you get well soon.
        … and you’re welcome ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Duckie ? April 19, 2017 / 2:26 pm

Have you seen anything like this?

      • Emsthemonster April 19, 2017 / 2:42 pm

Not yet, but they look great so keep the dog that contributed to them ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Birdcage April 19, 2017 / 3:14 pm

That would be pretty impressive if those lady slipper flowers came from a dog’s butt after eating house slippers….. LOL!

        • Faye April 19, 2017 / 9:14 pm

If the dog chews moccasins should I worry about snakes?

          • Smartypants April 20, 2017 / 12:05 am

            Just the water ones ๐Ÿ˜€

            • Faye April 20, 2017 / 8:12 am

              Yup!

  6. Clairdelune April 20, 2017 / 1:16 pm

Today’s cute index has reached a new high – baby beavers and cow-herding beavers, and corgies and kitties lost and found… I’M OVERLOADED WITH THE CUTE!!! And love every bit of it. Thanks Mike! I needed this. Except or the frustrated desire to boom the baby beaver’s nose and hold that sweet small ball of panda fuzz.. ๐Ÿ˜€

I clicked Edit to fix a couple of typos, fixed and clicked Save, but the edits never showed up. Another bug? ๐Ÿ™

I have an idea: for a few days I should feed the neighbor’s dog, who LOVES to poop in my backyard, some vegetables like tomatoes and peppers and blackberries and other seedy fruits and veggies, and in a couple of months I should have a full vegetable garden!!! And won’t even have to fertilize the plants!! Would that produce be considered organic?

    • Smartypants April 20, 2017 / 8:32 pm

LOL, maybe just flowers and those ornamental peppers?
